AFAIC, it’s not Christmas until Hans Gruber drops. 👿

Hope The Big Route went well.
Surprised to see Smollett was found guilty on so many counts; I’ll be curious to see if he gets any significant punishment. (I think 2-3 years in prison would be appropriate.)
Very well thank you. About 12 hours from start to finish. Harper surprised me and went with me for the final 2/3rds after I swung by home. That was delightful!
Bringing a smile to Fatwa’s face, although I don’t know how wet this “reason” is supposed to be:
Calling it the “most significant storm of the reason,” officials said precipitation amounts could be two to three times more than October’s atmospheric river, which broke multiple rainfall records across the state.
Forecasts in the L.A. area call for up to 3 inches of rain near the coasts and 5 inches inland. Up to 10 inches of snow could fall in the mountains, and 45 mph winds could blow.
I see that the California Air Resources Board (CARB) has approved new regulations that will subject heavy trucks to quarterly smog checks, including out-of-state trucks, and outlaw the sales of new gas-powered mowers, leaf blowers, edgers, trimmers, power washers, chain saws, and portable generators. I wonder how landscape companies are going to charge all those batteries? And how will we dispose of them? How will the ports of LA and Long Beach check the smog certification of the 36,000 trucks that exit their gates each day? How much of an impact will that have on our supply chain problems?
Do we tell the officials in CA that what they all have their knickers in a twist about is this thing called “weather?” It’s that thing that changes all the time.
Fatwa: I was surprised as well, but not that much. You have to wonder how many fake hate crimes there must be, if these obvious fakes pop up so often.
At work, we have this bizarre-o tune clock. I’ve never seen such a wacky piece of equipment.
It keeps doing wrong things. you’re supposed to push a button when you work past midnight, but even if you don’t sometimes it will not register the time correctly.
And sometimes it adds 24 hours to the time you worked.
On the first Monday of the two week time period it makes another mistake wherein when you punch in on Tuesday, it writes the time right on top of the Monday time,
So on Tuesday, you have to write the Monday time in the memo area so it won’t get wiped out, and you can add it on at the end.
also, when you punch in on tuesday, if you don’t want all the times for the whole period to be messed up, you have to punch out a minute later, wait a minute and punch in again, which will register a “correct” punch on the second line.
Then, you hope it’s not going to add 20 or more hours to your Tuesday time.when you punch out.
I thought I’d figured out all of its idiocyncracies, but last period, it dropped a new one on me where when you finish your shift before midnight, but fairly close to it, that you should also press the “midnight” button before you punch out or else madness will ensue.
So… Today’s time card, which is now done for the period, is a mass of red ink wherein I had to correct three… or was it four… things on it.
Every time I punch out, I strees out a little wondering what it’s going to do.
I worked a number of summers and school breaks for the father of a friend of mine who owned a small company that manufactured diving equipment. He told us straight out that he didn’t pay overtime and other things that violated labor laws. We used to get around some of that by playing with the time clock. It registered time in tenths of an hour, so you could show up to work five minutes late and still be on time (six minutes would be late). You could also clock in from lunch one second before the 30 minutes were up to gain a tenth of an hour on your time card. Let everyone else clock out before you and you could stretch things out another six minutes to get another tenth of an hour.
While at Warmart the other day, I decided to try their store brand Green Sause, for making Chilli Verde / pulled pork. I have usually used Safeway Salsa Verde because it has low vinegar. Some of the other brands, Herdez, for example are to vinegary.
Today I opened a few jars of the Waddle Mart Salsa and put it into the Pressure cooker with a pork roast. It looks like it will come out very well. The raw sause is pretty good, comp. to safeway, but a little more colorful looking, maybe?
Anyway if it works out, it will be a much cheaper option than safeway.
They actually have a lot of great salsa varieties in their Walmart store brand, Many would go great with Pork. And much cheaper than Safeway.
Happy Friday, GN!

Hehe. That’s a funny parchment. Suitable for framing and hanging on a wall.
Very well thank you. About 12 hours from start to finish. Harper surprised me and went with me for the final 2/3rds after I swung by home. That was delightful!
.
and so… to sleep.
Rest well, Dv8.
Thank you. I’m awake once more.
Being in CA, I’m always amused when I see stories like this showing gas prices that are supposed to be shocking --
Those look like AZ prices. Our gas was around 2 and a half bucks under Trump and even all through the p
(l)andemic. It’s a good dollar lower than what’s around here.
The lowest price within 15 miles is a dollar higher than what’s posted.
Happy Hans Gruber Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, dv8 (and Harper!), and Sven!
Rest well, dv8. I’m glad Harper was able to accompany you on most of Teh Big Route.
Fatwa -- as surprising as the Smollett guilty verdicts are, I’ll be even moar surprised if he gets significant prison time.

the first digital thermometer I bought, I dubbed it “the random number generator.” This timeclock of ours could probably be dubbed the same thing.
