It’s time to get some rest for the night’s long shift.

Prayers and well wishes to Fatwa and BrendaK

I’ve enjoyed reading your entries these past few days, Mac.

Goodnight Sven and Paddy.

It’s been fun sharing the music that all y’all have shared.

Harper says goodnight, as well.

evidently Elon’s Bid to take Twitter Private was successful.

It comes down to Twitter’s impending quarterly report, I take it.

If they did not take Elon’s offer, the stock would tank, then their crappy quarterly report would come out, and the stock would mega tank.

No one has any interest in Twitter stock unless Elon is involved.

He’s almost as entertaining as Donald Trump.

Good morning, Dv8 -- wishing you some decent rest.

Regarding online platforms, censorship, and free speech, I don’t know where you draw the lines. I’m curious to see what Musk has in mind and who he hires to run twitter.

Happy Tuesday, GN!

Hiya, dv8 (and Harper!!1!)

Brenda’s still hurt-y from the port placement, but she’s got good meds (and a doting spouse).

Gotta catch-up on errands and JimCo paperwork today; whee!

I’ll be curious to see if Musk’s purchase of Twitter is an improvement over the previous management; (very) guardedly optimistic about it.

If Musk wants to keep twitter on the app stores, there’s only so far he can go.

So… there will always be a place for GAB/Gab Trends/Dissenter

That being said, there is something to be said for a standard rule set that is enforced evenhandedly. That’s what Gettr and Parler do, for example. They simply apply the same restrictions to left, right, and center.

That is probably what you’ll see on Twitter, if Elon has his way.

And there are other services and websites that have rulesets.

IDW/Slug, for example. You can express any opinion, but you can’t insult members; you have to engage in polite intellectual discussion--even if you hate the joooooooooooooooooooos, or whooooomever.

As far as the shopping cart thing goes, I have mixed feelings.

Since they introduced the places to return your cart, I’ve always used them, unless I was very late for another appointment--very occasionally.

However….

When I lived in Portland (a union state) when Safeway’s union decided to support a bunch of greenie crap that affected me directly… well that’s when I decided otherwise.

they stopped carrying plastic bags so it made it harder for me to take groceries home using my bicycle.

So I decided that since their crappy corrupt union already causes all the prices to be higher and they decided to adversely affect their customers in other ways… I would be leaving the carts wherever they were, even if that was the middle of the lot.

When we returned to Arizona I virtually always return them now, as we are a right-to-work state.

And I can get plastic!

And I can even get Styrofoam cups!!!

To me, that’s worth returning my carts.

But as I intimated, in this highly polarized world, my application of civility and general civic mindedness is conditional.

I do the same, mac. I like to grab one from the lot if there’s one around. I have occasionally brought back more than one.

I even like to line one up in front of the door that someone can just grab on their way in.

but if I were trapped in Portland, or some other blue shxthxlx, I’d go back to leaving them in the middle of the parking space.

My civility, to a certain extent, is conditional.

I’m glad the medical stuff is going ok.

You are both so blessed to have each other.

I know about ports; for a while Harper was considering one. In the early days of her MS diagnosis, she was on the verge of getting one. Ultimately, she decided against it, but even then, it would have made some things much easier.

Happy Napping Browser Tuesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning (night), dv8 (and Harper!), Sven, Fatwa, and Mac!

We had a great time with Teh Future DiL, but we definitely wore her out and submitted her to sensory overload. She and Teh Older will be joining us a few hours later today.

Fatwa -- I’m glad BrendaK’s procedure went well. The discomfort of the port installation will be much better in the long run than the discomfort of having the chemo administered through a vein in her arm.
