BK had a not-terrific day yesterday but is okay this morning.
The HH-A HOA and a certain bottom-feeding law firm in Agoura Hills should be very grateful that a) diesel and fertilizer are so expensive / in short supply, and 2) I live 2200+ miles away. (Not even really kidding any more; they are avaricious, immoral human filth without whom the world would be a slightly better place.)
At some point, I’m going to transform into the Incredible Hebraic Hulk.
Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and Fatwa!
Mac -- excellent thread pic!
Fatwa -- I’m sorry Brenda had a bad day, yesterday, but I’m happy to hear that today is better. I hope a mediation date is set soon so you can get past that step and on to arbitration.
Hi, Paddy! Hope the O’F family continues to recover from the Bat Soup Flu.
I’d do damn near anything right now for a full night’s sleep.
You and me both, Sven; sorry you’re also having sleep issues.
Just got back from Walmart; a significant fraction of “workers” in D.C. should be festooning fuckin’ lampposts.
Paddy --
Don’t know why the HH-A scumbags are insisting on mediation when they’ve been told point-blank we’re not negotiating anything. I wish they -- and their attorney -- would die terrifying, agonizing, humiliating and very slow deaths.
Monday afternoon I went a bit crazy and started assembling my new computer. I did not sleep Monday or Tuesday nights, just grabbing short naps during the days. I hardly ate and I am down about three pounds this morning.
But the new box LIVES!!!
The hardware was mostly done by 6 AM Tuesday morning, with Windows 10 installed. Tuesday and Tuesday night were messing with software and copying multi terabytes of data onto big drives. Now I have to try and put the house back together, good thing Elena is with her Sister.
I am staying with Win 10 for now. I think there is about three years yet. I was thinking of upgrading soon to try it but there are aspects I don’t like and I need time to learn how to turn off some features I don’t want, so I will wait. I may have to pay for it later but that might be worth it. I think my new machine will work with it if I turn on the TPM chip, which I did install. I need to figure that out yet. I think I do that in the bios.
It looks like the cops in Uvalde may have waited outside the school for 40 minutes to an hour after the murderer entered before going in after him. I saw cell phone video of lots of men in combat gear holding parents back from the yellow tape they had installed on the playground. You could hear parents pleading with officers to go in and do something.
If true, the community would be justified in dragging the “leadership” out into the streets and administering a little street justice.
Folks on the left keep saying that teachers should not be armed, only the police. How many times have the police stood outside while murder went on inside with nobody armed to stop it? Even back to Columbine, the killings happened after the police arrived. They went in from two sides and one guy played Rambo and fired a full auto burst blindly around a corner. The other group reported they were taking full auto fire and both groups were called out. Then the more recent cases. I know of several cases where armed faculty ended a school shooting. Can anyone think of a case where a faculty member accidentally shot a student or staff member?
So, the county sheriff held a press conference and gave the timeline. Deputies arrived four minutes after the killer made entry to the school building (he previously shot at workers at a funeral home and shot at the school from the outside). The received fire, then waited for back-up, snipers, negotiators, etc. One hour later, Border Patrol entered and shot the suspect. No mention of whether or not any shots were fired during the 60 minute wait. How many kids bled out during that time that could have been saved?
Was there a pursuit or why did he crash his truck?
Regardless of what the police did or didn’t do, the allegations that racism is behind any delays with many officers being white as the reason they didn’t enter immediately, will begin before nightfall.
Love the roofing truck; will be forwarding to Jim and some cow-workers.
Congratters on the new computer. I’m still amazed at the transfer speeds I get from a USB bus-powered external backup drive (compared to thumb drives), but I don’t have that much stuff on either of my computers; a 500GB external drive easily accommodates backup for ALL my files. (That’s in addition to the automated backup HD in my desktop, which is my “master” machine; I sync files to my laptop manually.)
dv8 --
I don’t use my phone for accessing the web unless absolutely necessary (like when I’m on a jobsite); I’m not one of teh kool kids, I guess. (But I can use my phone as a “WiFi hot spot” for my old tablet if I need more screen real estate when I’m in the field and have the tablet with me.)
Now, that’s a good thread pic- bravo, Mac.
G’day, GN!
Hi, early-rising Sven!
Another fine thread pic, Mac.

OK is much better than not-terrific. Day by day, Brenda.
I’d do damn near anything right now for a full night’s sleep.
It’s amazing what one can find on the internet.

Good morning, gentle Gerbils.
Fatwa, my best to you and gentle Brenda.
Paddy, I hope you and your family are still improving. Glad it was not a worse case.
Sven, You both are good cat care folks.

When Little Mouse is away, Mac will play!
Are you staying away from Windows 11?

I am definitely not used to copying files and seeing speeds in GB per second. My tech had become dated.

He crashed his truck into the fence surrounding the school I think he may have thought he could drive right through the fence like they do on TV.
Always a good idea to wait until all the facts are out and that takes a few days.
thread pic: lol yup.
I think I’ve been staring at my phone way too much without glasses. My vision will be blurry for an hour now, probably.
I have to remember not to do that.
Do take care of them. You miss them later.
Eye drops right by your monitor.
Thank you.
When I forget my glasses, I don’t really notice until I try to look at something far away.
It’s finally going back to normal now : ) I didn’t even think of using eyedrops. It might have helped.
You’ll remind yourself to use them if they are right by the monitor and as an added bonus, you’ll have to look away from your monitor to apply them.
