BK update: up-and-down “mostly okay” yesterday; currently asleep.
Happy belated birfday to Jack Tatum; do kittehs get one to go with each of their nine lives?
Aaah…Woolworth stores. While their luster was already beginning to fade a bit when I was a little, little kid, I remember one near us in Chicago quite fondly. So much stuff for very little money!
There was also one in the same mall where I had my first full-time job ’74-’75.
The company was enormously innovative re merchandising and was able to pay more than $13M cash to build The Woolworth Building in NYC in 1913. (Which was 60 stories high and the world’s tallest building until Chrysler built theirs in 1930.)
I’m also old enough to recall civil rights protests at several of their lunch counters in the ’60s.
Criminy…I’m a fossil. A fat trilobite. 😉

A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa!
Fatwa -- thanks for the BK updated. I hope you both have a good day, today.
Woolworth’s -- no matter where we lived, you could find one. I think I ate at their lunch counter once or twice when mom dragged my brother and I out to go shopping.
Off to church, then to my MiL’s to do some repair work. C y’all later!
By the time I was in Highschool, the only Woolworth’s in our city was downtown. Downtown Phoenix was pretty dangerous even back then, but interesting also. Very different than anywhere else in the city… I guess, like most cities. Downtown has all the high rises, and the old stores in around the bottoms of them. Woolworth’s was one of them.
It probably went away some time in the 80’s but I don’t actually remember seeing the last of it, so to speak.
The broth came out pretty well. Definitely not enough collagen. But that can be supplemented. We had some last night with some edamame noodles. Pretty tasty, Added Gelatin, a little more fat (butter) and Miso and fish/soy/mirin, the usual for flavor.
Definitely tasty, but not close to traditional. But good texture and taste, if a bit out of the ordinary.
Sunday greetin’s, GN!

Blessings to you and Brenda,
Watch out for Charlie in the Jungle Book. He’s very dangerous.

Never made it to church. Slept through the entire day. It was one of those sundays, but at least I feel very, very, very, well rested.
by the way, I made some weird sause for the chicken I BBQed. Still have plenty of that left.
Didn’t want to make peanut sauce again; I wanted to experiment.
So I used more peanut butter and half and half, salt, splenda, and added some powdered baker’s coco. I guess I’ll christen it “Reese Sauce.”
Peanut butter and chocolate, salty and sweet.
Similar to Mole. But Mole is better.
