HH-A update: As you may recall, several weeks ago, all parties -- including the agreed-upon mediator --were asked to provide multiple windows of availability for this week and next week. And they did, Thus, we’ve been wondering why nothing’s been scheduled.
Mr. Attorney forwarded us a letter from the arbitration company dated yesterday stating that the other side has not yet paid their deposit toward the mediator’s fee, They were given until 08/01.
Mr. Attorney responded in-part:
If the Respondent does not pay by 8/1/22, it is the intention of Claimant to deem that default as a waiver of Arbitration…
Lousy, miserable rat-fucking bastards.
Guess we’lll learn what options we have if those deadbeats don’t pay by Monday…or even if they do.

Just had a couple of listens to the “Dead Like Me” opening; sounds like whoever created the bass part was having some fun. Pretty interesting to hear a bit of “slap and pop” applied to a Latin jazz-ish bass pattern. Also liked the glissandi at the opening…t’anks!
Not to mention the montage of Reapers doing mundane stuff; the laundromat particularly tickled me.

I was struck by the bass part. Fretless slides at first and the some nice slap an pops, and some standard playing toward the end. Some tenths in there… Lot’s of good bass stuff.
You probably don’t know this but Electric bass was my first “Pop” instrument. I still love the bass, but haven’t picked one up for decades now.

The documentary he did with Adam Corolla, No Safe Spaces, is quite good and worth watching. He penned a good piece that I read just now up on Townhall and it contains a succinct insight that sums up what is wrong with today’s culture:

Yeah…I want a Killdozer (but with an “exit plan”).
I could destroy only select units without damaging their neighbors’ townhomes. The way they’re laid out, if I went in through the fronts it’d take out their living rooms, dining rooms and kitchens before entering the garages at a proper height to crush any vehicles and taking out a load-bearing wall just for that unit.

My dumbist was probably my hydrogen torch. I used electricity to make water into hydrogen and oxygen, which I captured in separate containers for various uses. I decided to let them mix in a 2 1/2 gallon plasic milk bottle I had. It started full of water and upside down in a tub of water. When it was more than half full of gas I held a match to the side plastic. I did not think it through properly and hoped for a flame jet coming out of the hole when it melted through. Of course it was hydrogen and oxygen in a perfect ratio so it just exploded inside. I was squatting so the next thing I knew I was on my back and soaked with water. My ears rang for a long time and I had a headache. Lesson learned, work out the reactions FIRST!
It’s a wonder I didn’t get into more trouble being allowed access to my older brother’s lab. Liquid nitrogen alone was a fascination that could have turned ugly fast. I must have had a guardian angel.
An experiment that my students used to love involved generating hydrogen by placing aluminum foil in a container of acid and capturing it via water displacement in a test tube. They would then pull the test tube out of the water and hold a match near the mouth. If the test tube started out full of water, they only collected hydrogen and they might get a small flame for a brief moment. If the test tube started out half full of water (and half full of air), then the resulting hydrogen/oxygen mixture would combust with a small pop. Of course by using a test tube, you ended up with anything from a squeak to a woof, depending on the length and diameter of the test tube.
I mostly just used electricity. Oxygen was fun to play with. I could have used a better way to capture SO2 when making sulfuric acid. I could not get H2O2 stronger than 6% anyway. It worked, but I wanted stronger.
Vacuum fractional distillation works well. You can also try the stovetop method of boiling off the excess water, but you’ll never really know what concentration you end up with. From a safety standpoint, I don’t like the idea of 212 F reactive liquids in open containers.
We are OK. Elena is going to Cancun for a week next month so she has been prepping for that. I made a new computer and I have been reorganizing my room and it’s closet to get things more organized. I freed up a good deal of space and added shelves, so things are looking good. Elena is pleased.
That sounds grand! New shelves are a goodness. You were way overdue for a new computer, too, weren’t you?
I hope Elena has picked out a few lovely frocks to take with her. A nice hat.
I think so. My last one was in 2014. A lot of new tech since then. When it decides to show off it is amazing. It is very quiet and goes from cold to fully ready in less than a minute, including entering password.
Elena has been shopping for this for a long time. She has been packing for weeks.
The closet. The wire cart is a handy table and can be rolled out. I bought an identical one with feet instead of casters for above the red tool boxes (which contain my handguns, small tools, etc.) It makes strong shelves that hold boxes of ammunition. Really helps.

The disposal was…complicated
I made the ingredients, old reference books told how, but I never mixed them. I was not that adventuresome, and I had no magic wand.
My friend and I were only 10 or so and were still young enough to stupidly do it but old enough to do it well.
Fortunately, my friend Joe’s mother was dating a firefighter who knew what to do.
