UFC 280 over the weekend in the UAE. Some interesting and ballsy post fight comments considering where the event took place.

I noticed that the reporter didn’t try to cut him off or change the subject. He let him make his comments.

UFC gives their fighters a lot of leeway as long as they stay within the lines. What those lines are is unclear, but when a fighter steps over one he’s soundly punished.

The UFC had, maybe still does, a reality show where 20 or so non-UFC/amateur fighters vie for a UFC contract. The final match is part of a regular UFC show with the winner getting the contract. In fact, what really got the UFC into the mainstream was the first such match between Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar in 2005. If you’ve never seen it, it’s probably on youtube and it’s an incredible fight regarded as one of the best ever and it gave Dana White’s UFC some respectability.

Anyhow, one year a couple of weeks before the final contract match, one of the fighters made an ass of himself in Vegas and Dana White, in no uncertain terms, pulled the fighter from the match. He pulled no punches about how his fighters, both inside and outside of the octagon, are expected to act respectfully and professionally and if you didn’t want to follow those rules, then you’re done.

Happy Monday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and Fatwa!

Cats! ‘Coons will come to your aid with a canoe, but cats will let you drown.

Sven -- glad you haven’t lost power. Hope the winds die down soon. I’m glad you didn’t have any issues with your eye, but sorry you didn’t get any sleep.

Fatwa -- I’m glad that BK has had a couple of decent days. Prayers that this continues.

A group of German “scientists” (social scientists) glued themselves to the floor of the Porsche exhibit hall in Wolfsburg Germany.
https://spectator.org/scientists-glue-themselves-to-floor-to-protest-car-emissions/
The point they’re making is not the one they hoped to make.

(They) have turned off the heating,” wailed one of the “scientists,” Gianluca Grimalda. Who is a “social psychology researcher.

I thought they’d be happy the heat was turned off. Gotta save Gaia!

People in support … can’t order our food … lights off … random unannounced checks by security guards with bright torches,

It doesn’t appear these “scientists” planned this demonstration very well.

The “scientist” children also forgot to make provisions for another — and real — emergency. That of emptying their bowels and bladders. Being glued to the floor, they could not do so in the little boys’ — or girls’ — room. So they fumed when the adults “refused our request to provide us with a bowl to urinate and defecate in a decent manner while we are glued.”

Heh. I wonder what type of glue they used?

Good question. I hope they’re using superglue and finding it painful when the police remove them.
