Indeed I do, Mac. I’ve thought about hoisting Jack Tatum into the attic, but Mrs Sven says no.

I’ve been imagining what someone could actually do to help me.

I think… I think I may really and truly be starved of human interaction. Maybe I can get a friend or church mate to hang out with me as I do some of these unpleasant tasks.

I even have some financial things I have to fix, that, for a normal person, would be easily fixable. Like changing insurance companies (car insurance alone would save me more than 50%, for example) canceling some monthly payments that I don’t need anymore, etc.

I have a goal to work at a certain place. (I don’t want to work there, but it is close, and has the best benefits, and probably would pay me in the 6 figures, or at least the high 5s) I feel like my current job is a pretty good fit, except it doesn’t pay that much and has no benefits. (why do smart people always just want to sweep people’s floors, and stuff like that?-- I dunno, but they’re everywhere, driving trucks or mopping up, etc--people in the 140 IQ range… or higher… Why do they do it?)

I need to write a much better resume, for example. Someone to hang out with while I do that, someone to which I can explain what I am doing and why. That would help. Not collaborating with anyone. That would not be necessary--would probably not even be helpful.

No one I know, including all, y’all, engage in the kind of rule breaking I would be comfortable with; and, to be honest, I am most happy when I’m doing the breaking.

I’m just so maxed out that I mostly just work, sleep, rest, go to whatever appointments we have to go to, and that’s about it.

It does no good to say “been there too -- know what you are going through.” The only thing that has worked for me is results. I set tasks for myself and I write them down, no matter how mundane at times. Then I do them. If I do one, but planned on three, well, I at least got one done.

It does seem you need some human contact, Dv8, outside of your normal routines. That can provide a fresh perspective -- if you have friends that you haven’t seen in awhile, drop by and see them. I keep reading that you missed church again -- make yourself go this weekend and interact with the congregation.

As far as work goes, why are you working? Is it just the money? If money isn’t too tight, then take a shot at getting into the other place.

I’ll address some of this tomorrow. Your input is very much appreciated.

Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and dv8 (and Harper!)!

Sven -- other than plugging up all the teeny, tiny possible entrances to your attic, about all you can do is set traps and hope to eliminate them that way.

dv8 -- there’s a lot to unpack in your post. If you think having someone hang out with you while you get some of these tasks done would be helpful, then do it. I’m sure you’d feel a lot better if some of those tasks were to be checked off. I know that money isn’t everything, but having enough that you don’t have to worry about the basics is a goodness. Having enough that you don’t have to fret about unexpected expenses is even better. Think about what is best for your family and move in that direction.

Yeah, I’m not a good rule breaker.

I’m super good at it, but tbh, I’ve done it very sparingly when I thought it was absolutely necessary. But the feeling I get from it, makes me want to do it all the time : )

It often is the first step to doing anything big that I have done.

The normal way to do something is 10 steps. My way is often 1 step.

It’s particularly true when you deal with large institutions. In any given process, there is always a large glaring weakness that you can exploit to bypass and/or game a whole lot of it.

Going to school in the late 90s -- early 2000s? If you write one word, in one box on one form, the whole institution opens up to you in ways most people can only fantasize about. Too bad for me I didn’t care to mimic their politics as well. (Instead, I played the part of a very scary guy and let other people make up the lore about me.)

(The word is “hispanic,” icyww)

Starting a transportation company? Why pay the mafia for fake insurance when you can fake it yourself? Don’t want your kneecaps broken? You have to concoct a believable reason why they don’t need to be concerned about you. You’re not real competition, so they don’t care. (I won’t share that one, sorry)

My cousin passed away last night. Mrs. Paddy was going to see her yesterday, but jury duty intruded.
