Happy dull Monday, GN. A work holiday for me today, and then it looks like I have to report for jury duty Wednesday. All in all, a short and messed up week.
I haven’t been called for jury duty since right after my heart attack in 2016. I was just out and was not used to dealing with the insulin injections and medications but I reported. They rejected me. I expect it was because I argued with one of the lawyers about vigilantism. They dismissed everyone for a break and then called back the ones they still wanted. I was relieved as I don’t know how I would have handled a long trial.
Hi, Mac. I’ve been getting jury summons every 2-3 years. Here, and I don’t know if this is most places, but you are assigned to a group and you have the option of just showing up for one day during that week or checking the website and seeing if your group is required to come in. I used to just go in for one day and be done with it; the last couple of times I rolled the dice and my group wasn’t called. This time, my group number seems low enough to get called.
In the dozen or so times that I’ve been summoned, only once was I even called into a courtroom for jury selection. That time, we all sat there for half an hour and then were dismissed.
I have been called in for selection two or three times before, but as I have friends and relatives in law enforcement and as criminals, I always get dismissed by mutual agreement of both lawyers. This last one was a civil case so I don’t know if that would have applied, we never got that far.
I’m like Sven -- I get a postcard every few years telling me I get to spend a week checking a website to see if I have to report to a court. When I was much younger and had to report in-person, I got put on a panel 6-8 times and excused all but three (one civil, two criminal).
We have a thin coat of snow here, but not as much as they made it look like. Temp last night got to 9 degrees. It is a balmy 14 now, so I turned off the propane heater in the garage. The electric heater should handle it.

Good morning, Sven. That kind of sucks.

Happy Color-blind Monday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and Mac!
I’m sure MLK, Jr. is spinning in his grave fast enough to power the entire eastern seaboard, given what the Left has done to his dream.
