I like that thread pic!

Picked up another couple of inches of rain last night over a very short period. Lots of NWS and local warnings for tornadoes, hail, and high winds. I’ll check around the house for any damage once the sun comes up.

Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven!

Sven -- I hope things are well at the Mountain Redoubt. I haven’t seen any downed trees or even much debris around here, which is good.

I’m attending a virtual conference this morning and one of the presenters stated that their pronouns were “she/they”. WTF? She/they? You identify as a woman with multiple personalities?

Don’t be judgey, Paddy. Use “they” as often as you can and confuse the hell out of the normal people and probably the abnormal ones as well.

Teh bestest place ever has a townhall later this month and they ask for questions beforehand -- supposed to be anonymous, of course. I submitted one about company policy, if I could add my preferred pronouns to my email signature. I was polite and I’ve actually been asked that question by one other employee, so it’s legit.

In education I’ve come across a lot of people who post their pronouns -- mostly she/her, he/him, and they/them. I’ve never seen she/they. He/she/they are all nominative case, while him/her/them may be either accusative or dative. She/they provides no pronoun for the direct or indirect object.

True, but only if you subscribe to the white-patriarchal grammar paradigm.

If you are working in an international corporation, it would make sense if that’s why they are making you do it, but we all kind of know that isn’t the real reason.

During this conference, a few people have asked questions that amount to “How do we make sure that we’re giving students extra support because they need it, and not because they are minorities?” To me the answer is simple: fire racist teachers (and don’t hire racist teachers). But I guess that’s too simple.

I could have sworn I made a post this morning. Maybe it was a dream.

We’re had probably 20 or so straight days of rain up here as well.

We may get more tonight. I’m glad I got to the mailbox and the grocery store before it started. Now I don’t have to go anywhere so we can just light the fireplace and chill out.

That’s the best thing to do! Glad you don’t have to go out in it.

I see there’s a second flaming skull on AoSHQ related to the same topic. Joey Choo-Choo is so diminished in mental capacity as to be unable to be tried for his crimes, but Trump needed to be removed via the 25th Amendment. It’s like they make up the rules as they go along.

It works in their favor. They have to get rid of Brandon first and this provides a reason to do so…for the good of the country. I thought they’d wait until after the primaries finished, but maybe not.

I’m sure we will be treated to all types of pundits scratching their chins in deep thought abut how sad it is that Brandon, under the pressure of MAGA and all the Trump mistakes, has declined just recently.

I’m sure they’ll wait until the convention to name their replacement. In the meantime, they have to figure out how to stall so that Kamala doesn’t become the first female President and an even bigger laughing stock.

Diminished Faculties would be a good name for a band.

Echoing what Sven said. I’m glad you took Elena in and found out what it was.
