I’ve got to get up on the roof today to see why we’re getting water leaking into the fireplace when it rains. Hopefully the cause will be obvious and the fix cheap and simple. There are also some areas along the chimney where the stucco has come away from the flashing next to the brick. I’ll have to spray those areas down to see if wind-driven rain is getting in.
Aside from a few areas that need to be re-pointed (nothing major), the only source of a leak I could see is where two pieces of flashing overlap at the back of the chimney. The upper piece had pulled away from the lower and dirt and debris had built up behind it. I cleaned it out an put a bunch of Henry’s on the overlap. We’ll see what happens this week. I also picked up supplies to repoint areas on the chimney that need it, but I’ll wait until the weather gets a little better before tackling that chore.
We were watching the movie From Dusk till Dawn -- good movie and then watching the credits -- it was made in 1996. WTF? Almost thirty years ago? Where did the time go?
On the plus side, at least she didn’t draw you with a cat.
