We had Teh Older and his Bride over for dinner last night. I made individual chicken and leek pies and baked some Guinness brown bread. I think I’ve got the chicken and leek pie recipe dialed in. This was my second attempt at the bread. I used a different recipe and I think it turned out much better.
I am not one for fresh fish but I like breaded or battered cod, especially fish and chips. I miss H. Salt Esq out here. I buy the breaded cod fillets at Costco and bake them in the oven.
I guess we will have the pitter patter of little feet for about five days. We will be cat sitting, she gets dropped off tonight. I do miss cats.
I am taking Elena in for spinal injections tomorrow morning. Mac may be busy for a while taking care of the ladies of the household. The cat is quite old and frail, and she has become rather needy for attention. I expect I will have a lot of company in my room.
I just heard that we will have two kitties, the shy one as well. I put a chair in the library and covered it with a blanket to make her a fort. She likes to hide. I did this last time and she did seem to like it, she went right to it.
Thank you, Sven. Migas is on my recliner chair in my room as I type this, and Mimi is in her fort. She went right there when they opened her carrier. I remember she liked it before. She spends most of her time under a bed, but comes out at night or when the house is quiet. That will mostly NOT be when Elena is home and awake.
Tomorrow should be OK, it just means getting up too blessed early. The time theft does not help. I was very sick yesterday and was worried I would have to put this off again, but while weak, I think I will be OK tomorrow so I confirmed things today. I drove out to scout the entrance to the hospital, so that will help.

I did bake some Atlantic Cod last Friday -- a tasty fish that I haven’t made before.
