Northwesterner and Kirk were around Eugene and Harper and David were in Portland then, but I don’t recall anyone from Southern Oregon. I did not know where everyone was but if I had known somebody was in Grants Pass I probably would have remembered as I have been to Grants Pass a couple of times and have a link to it. Sorry I don’t know more.
I never lived there but my first wife’s family did for a time. The constant dreary weather led her mother to a nervous breakdown. When my first wife left her first husband, she moved there to stay with her sister who lived in the old family home with her kids. They lived out of the town but were afraid to flush the toilets at night lest someone use the noise to cover a breakin. I don’t know if this was really called for, but I was surprised at the drugs and crime in Nevada City and Grass Valley in California, so my assumptions about small towns was probably off.
In Texas it seems like the wind blows constantly, just varying in how hard it blows. It can get on my nerves at times. I could easily see the weather in Grants Pass having a much worse effect on people.
I agree, Mac, on your political and social points. If I were younger and single, I’d pack up now and head to Texas. Marriage, though, I’ve found, is a negotiation.

A friend of mine from down here is moving his family to Grants Pass. I’ve never considered Oregon s a place to go, but he made some good points.

There is no way I think I would want to move to Oregon now, but the reasons are more social and political. The same would apply to California.
