Thread pic: Cats are odd creatures, but do tend to reflect the personalities of their owners.

Happy “Cash is King” Kitteh Wednesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and Mac!

I never dragged my butt on the carpet after pooping.

Are we to infer that you did at other times?

A neighbor on the next street over, down the hill, had their roof replaced this summer. I remember there was a small crew and it took longer than other roofing jobs in the area. This morning I looked out the patio doors and I see a crew removing the roof.

Same crew?

This is the tear-off crew. I’ll have to wait until they start installing the new roof before I’ll possibly be able to tell.

It’s funny how our very competent govt agencies publish stats for crime and jobs to great fanfare and then quietly reduce them later. And they wonder why no one believes them anymore.

Not seeing a lot of follow up to this story, but interesting. https://hotair.com/david-strom/2024/10/15/did-the-new-york-times-publish-a-hoax-n3795835

Wow! I hadn’t seen that story. Those pictures were clearly staged or edited.

I had to take my vehicle in for service this morning. On Sunday I noticed a film of oil on my back window and fresh oil on several spots on the driveway. Tuesday I checked the oil and there was none on the dipstick. I added a couple of quarts of oil before driving it in to the shop. It turns out there was a small leak in the body of the oil filter.

A simple fix -- caught it soon enough so you didn’t catch oil cancer like Brandon’s neighbors did when he was growing up.

Yep. Had some maintenance items taken care of while it was on the lift.

I watched the FOX interview of Harris. Don’t think it moves the needle at all. The left will compare this to Daniel entering the lion’s den and swoon over how brave she was; the right will mock her non-answers, non-achievements, evasive answers, and how she ran out early.

I saw a few clips on AoSHQ and it looked like a train wreck. I didn’t know she ran out early. I’m sure that will strike fear in the hearts of Putin, Xi, Dim Sum Whatever, and the Ayatollahs.

Not really knowing anything about Mark Halperin, I found this interview engrossing. State of politics, state of the media, behind the scenes on the Brandon overthrow. His last comments on what he sees as a coming mental health crisis in America should Trump win is getting a lot of views, but the whole thing is just a grownup making sense of the current political landscape.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV_WDBqE8VI

“I say this not flippantly,” Halperin explains before adding: ”I think it will be the cause of the greatest mental health crisis in the history of the country.”

He believes, “Tens of millions of people will question their connection to the nation … to other human beings … to their vision to what their future for them and their children could be like. And that will require an enormous amount of access to mental health professionals.”

“Are you being serious?” asks Carlson.

“I’m being a hundred percent serious,” answers Halperin, who then goes on: A Trump victory will “lead to trauma in the workplace [and] alcoholism [and] broken marriages.”

Halperin adds that Democrats were able to dismiss Trump’s 2016 victory as a “fluke” caused by disgraced former FBI Director James Comey re-opening the email investigation against Hillary Clinton. But this time, if Trump wins, it will be in a normal environment and a clear victory will mean “America chose by the rules pre-agreed to [and if] Donald Trump [wins] again, I think it will cause the biggest mental health crisis in the history of America.”

“And it will be sustained, unprecedented, and hideous.”

“Mental health crises often manifest in violence,” Carlson says.

“Yeah,” Halperin agrees. “I think there’ll be some violence. I think there’ll be workplace fights, fights at kids’ birthday parties … protests that will turn violent.”
