Thread pic. Cats: Not high on my list of good things this morning as Tatum got me up at 3:00 this morning for no good reason and I couldn’t get back to sleep.
The weather outlook here today is not too good, but not terrible. The winds pick up in a few hours to worrisome levels and the power will likely go off later today and stay off until Thursday. What’s now becoming an issue is cold -- our temps are going to drop overnight into the low 40’s/high 30’s. Not prepared for that.
No fires in our immediate area -- if we get through the next couple of days we’ll be OK altho there’s supposedly another Santa Ana event coming next week.
Hi, Paddy. The cold is an issue as our night temperatures have dropped down to about 40 degrees. My generator won’t power the gas furnace and we’d have to choose between running a small electric heater or the refrigerator. Nor do I want to be running the generator all night. I ordered a battery powered thermal blanket from Amazon that may be enough to keep Mrs Sven warm, but with colder temperatures it’s going to be harder to keep the “unhoused” from lighting fires to keep warm. Tonight will be interesting.
I don’t blame you for not wanting to run your generator all night. If you have a warm beanie, put that on to reduce heat loss from your head. It will really help keep you warm at night. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about the “unhoused” lighting the hillsides on fire to keep warm.
I watched some of the Hegseth nomination senate hearings today. I don’t think Hegseth did great -- I think he did enough to get through it, but I found him a bit too political and somewhat whiny. That being said, I think he’s Trump’s choice and ought to be confirmed.
These types of hearings are nothing more than theater with each questioner getting their five minutes of fame and soundbites. It’s beyond disappointing that our elected officials are little more than poor actors.

Happy Tuesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven!

Sven -- stay safe out there. And warm. Jackets, blankets, socks, etc.

The clips I saw didn’t reflect well on anyone. Maybe we should stop electing politicians.
