Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Yes, Mandela is dead, and our Ear Leader manages to insert himself into the eulogy -- how Mandela inspired him, how the first political event he attended was an anti-apartheid rally, etc. The White House even tweeted a staged photo of the First Family in Mandela’s prison cell. Talk about your narcissist-in-chief!
“On Thursday, a White House official said the press office had not fully researched the relationship between the president and his uncle before telling the Globe that they had no record of the two meeting. This time, the press office asked the president directly, which they had not done in 2011. ”
What innovation. What inquiring minds. I wonder who in the press office thought outside the box and came up with the idea to ask Obama directly? Feller deserves a raise. Not that Obama would have told the truth anyhow. He’s the type of guy when faced with telling the truth or lying, the lie just comes out. Lies are as natural to him as breathing.

Icy greetings!
BW’s doctor’s office called last night & canceled her appt. Not taking TM to the base ,either. I parked my truck outside at the top of the driveway in case I have to gwt out. But I don’t think we are going anywhere. There is a sheet of ice over everything. We have actual 8-10 inch icicles hanging off of the roof. There is about a four inch build up of sleet-ice on the hood of my truck. It looks like a snow covered yard, but it is frozen solid. We aren’t supposed to get over freezing until late Sunday afternoon. The good news is that BW is off until Sunday morning. The airport is not fun place to be today.
Idiocy at the Crackhouse Mansion continues. The other night TM called BW wanting to give her credit card number to the “good” neice. Seems she “forgot to pay her electric bill & didn’t notice until the cancellation notice came.” This was the one that spent all day Thanksgiving talking about standing in line for a new Kindle. Good Neice will now be renamed Worthless Grandaughter. Her other brother, “Good Nephew” is the only one of TM’s grandchildren worth a darn.
Not to be outdone, WG supposedly came up with some traffic tickets that need to be paid,”so he can get his license back”. That prompted another call last night from TM for her credit card number. Kinda defeats the purpose of us keeping her cards.
So far, nothing has shown up on TM’s accounts other than a $100 check to Worthless Granddaughter. But she “will save so much money by having a Kindle instead of buying books!”
Sleet all night, everything is iced up. 27 now, our high for the day. Heading for 15. Cold for us hot house flowers from California. I don’t plan to be driving for a while.
Thanks for checking in; hope you’re all staying warm and dry.
Anybody heard from TeX or Mr. X?
Is Al Gore visiting Texas?

Once again, I commend your continuing ability to deal with the Addams Family (sans the use of a 2″x4″, softball bat and/or sock filled with quarters). 😉
Also appreciated teh weather update; glad you two didn’t have to go out today.
Mac --
Cheers for the pics; you’re neighborhood sure looks different than when you first moved in. Fifteen degrees…criminy!!1!!!
And yeah, Paddy was pretty close, that’s what this year’s Menorah looked like.
Other than that, it’s been a week. ::rolleyes:: And we’re off early in the am tomorrow to help install (heave up) our friend’s microwave*, **. Which could be an “interesting” drive if the predictions of freezing drizzle pan out.
Current readings here are 29° with a windchill of of 24°. We’ve turned off all the outside water and drained the lines, I’ve been shoveling the coals from the woodstove around the plants I’d *like* to see make it through the next couple of days (although the banana tree’s gonna fold like a cheap suit -- always does).
The woodstove’s cooking and Mr. X’s air-exchanger is on, but you know it’s hot in the house when the dog with the LEAST coat would rather be outside.
* Mr X has done about 50 of these by himself -- he keeps telling me to tell my friend that. I keep telling Mr. X, you want to get into a measuring contest, y’ain’t using *my* IM to do it. 😉
** His wife was right at Thanksgiving, with her gone my IM starts blinking three minutes after I clock into work, and if it’s after hours, my cellphone starts dinging. I had no idea he was so high maintenance. My gawd, wait ’til he starts trying to handle t-posts and barbed wire. o_0
Heh! Yeah, perfect!
Friday frolics from Happy Larryville, GN!
Say…have you heard that Nelson Mandela’s dead??!!? You’d think that would be big news.
Mac --
Hee!
Other than that, I got nothin’.
He’s still dead, eh? I pray that President Obama will find the strength to carry on.
It was like 43 out an hour ago and now it’s dropped down to 38. If this trend continues, it will be like 0 before noon.
And good morning, Fatwa!

Well it does make life simpler when everything is all about yourself. Cuts down on the confusion.
Obama and his uncle: this is really funny.

Where is that SMOD when you need it?

Rabbit, I’m glad your plans were changed. I was worried about you doing errands in this.
RabBeet and Mac-

Did you get the washing machine part?
The man was born to be a Cook County politigoon; just wish that he’d stayed there.
Nowhere to be found, apparently.

Love y’all.
*mwah!*
Be safe Mac and Rabbit!
*ZzzzzzzzzzzT!*
Thanks for the statue pictures Tex.
No mail and no Fed Ex today. Guess I’m not the only road wimp. Can’t say I blame anyone.
Little Mouse had me playing plumber under the kitchen sink instead.
Hai, TeX; cheers for the update.
Is that what you kids are calling it these days?
