Good morning, Gerbil Nation!
It looks like it’s going to be another beautiful day in paradise -- I hope we get more rain next week.
How long before more of the Ukraine is annexed by Mother Russia? I’m sure Duh Won! and John effin’ Kerry will issue strongly worded warnings -- to Israel.
Happy Fat Tuesday from Happy (and, in my case, fat) Larryville, GN!
Hai, Paddy!
I’m sure Duh Won! and John effin’ Kerry will issue strongly worded warnings — to Israel.
No flurking schnitt. I’d love to have been the proverbial “fly on the wall” during Netanyahu’s meeting with Il Douchey yesterday.
====================
It seems the world is slipping into chaos yet again, too bad there isn’t a stronger U.S…and that our President is a profoundly ignorant, pencil-necked weakling. I was promised that if he were elected, America’s prestige would be restored and the world would once again love and respect us.
How could we be so fu*king dumb?
Our manned space program ceased being “sexy” once we beat them filthy, heathen Russkis to the moon. As such, money wasn’t so forthcoming. And NASA screwed the pooch, too; they largely lost the sort of “vision” they had in the sixties and also wasn’t good at “playing politics”. (It didn’t help that most of our Congress were/are complete scientific illiterates, either.)
Further, the shuttle program was, IMHO, severely compromised by the Pentagon getting their hooks into it in terms of payload requirements. Losing half the fleet in high-profile disasters didn’t help, either.
Politicians at any level would rather fund “sexy” stuff, since there’s zero PR value in doing shit like maintaining / improving basic infrastructure. F’rinstance, stimulus money could have been spent on hardening our national electrical grid, which is sorely needed for a passel of reasons. Which is very expensive, but “mundane”, because Americans are used to pretty reliable power.
Ditto improving water / sewage systems which, in many cities, have major components which are a century old. But addressing that stuff isn’t as “cool” as, say Common Core and free smart phones.
Like Paddy noted, no more rain in the forecast this week. Be good to dry out.
The shuttle program had its problems, but it was the only way we could get up to space and back. Better to have something that works most of the time rather than nothing at all. And to have full autonomous control of it as opposed to relying on other countries or commercial ventures.
We could have just warehoused the whole thing for a rainy day, but we didnt. I can’t blame Obama for this one--it started under Bush--but Obama is an idiot for not changing course.
Anyhow, hope you guys have a good day. Off to work and hopefully a paycheck.

Watching our president again today. Makes me wonder how many more times over the next three years that I’ll be saying to myself that we are so f*cked.
