My goodness…Cone of Shame-stomping? Is there no depth to which some cats won’t sink?
Needs moar inter-species hate crime laws.
“Fighting Butchers” sounds like the name of a Schutzstaffel intermural fußball team…an impression enhanced by the sign-bearer’s quasi-toothbrush moustache. And the guy to the left of him looks like he works at an Orange Jooless stand.
Big shout-out to the goons from the American Federation of Musicians, Local 4, for threatening me and a drummer (both under the age of eighteen) in a dark parking lot forty-two years ago and thereby teaching me an important life lesson about unions. And their supporters.
For no good reason, I was looking through some of my grandfather’s stuff and re-reading a book, The Inheritance, that his union put out on the 50th anniversary of their founding. This year it would have marked 100 years. Anyhow, the book is an outtake of a movie that they did in 1964 and I found it on youtube:
That’s the first part and the other 3 parts are available as well. It’s an interesting look back not just at unions but at the traditional immigrant experience.
But something else occurred to me as I was researching online some of the names that appeared in some of these books. For instance, lists of union members killed by employers or police during various demonstrations--was there other information available about their lives or the specific incidents where they were killed? In some cases, I got hits on their names; in other cases, nothing.
So my question: are we moving towards a time where if something can’t be found by a google search, it doesnt exist?
I think we are, Sven. I know that students use online resources exclusively, even when looking for books and articles. At the university , I’m not sure how many students even read physical journal articles as compared to their online versions.

I tend to agree with that; glad I learned how to do “analog” research, too.

TSA “officers”; what a farking pawthetic, condescending, expensive and liberty-infringing joke they are. But then, the same can be said for nearly our entire government.
Labor Day salutations from Happy Larryville, GN!

I really don’t want to know what their ‘secret ingredient’ is.

Little cooler today--huge easterly winds here last night for about an hour--but so far today things is calm.

I thought ‘twist and inspect’ would involve a blue glove.
A new groping technique?
What’s the motto of the TSA? ‘Grope and Hope’?
