After some hours of watchin’ the tornado show, I was forced by sleepiness to go to bed just when the storm got close. Other than some loud thunder & lightning with a little rain, we were not affected by the tornados.
Cleburne, Tx . got about 5 inches of rain & their lake level shot up two feet!

Yesterday’s outing was shopping at Kohl’s, the car wash and lunch at Outback. There was a sad moment at Outback when we noticed a table of four get up to leave. The grown couple pulled up two red walkers to assist the elderly couple from the table. Then we seemed to keep seeing walkers everywhere. Luckily, it was at the end when we were leaving & could just go home.

Paddy, I hope you get the job you are looking for. I don’t understand the two question interviews. Seems like it would make more sense to ask all the questions at once, but that is just me. I don’t live in the world that “is” much anymore, preferring the world that “was”. Back when common sense was more common. Ha!

Gotta hop

Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Happy Monday -- *gaaaaaaaaaah!* -- GN!

Hey, RabBeet!

I have to wonder in this case if the whole “80% of his spinal cord was severed” talking point is anywhere close to the truth.

Sven --

I’ve been keeping one eye on that case but make no claim to being totally on top of it. AFAIK, the police have not refuted that at any point. Further, the cops admitted a few days ago that Gray wasn’t placed in a seat belt in the back of their van. This suggests Gray was given a nickel ride.

Good morning and happy Monday and I hope everyone is working their PMA to the max as the workweek starts.

Glad to hear no real problems from yesterday’s storms, Rabbit, and hope that the rest of the Texas contingent is OK as well.

Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Hai, Sven!

Addendum to my previous: Baltimore PD has also admitted that Gray was not provided with medical attention on a timely basis after they had him in custody.

Considering how many false statements were injected into the Zimmerman, Ferguson, and NY cases, from both official and media sources, I’ll wait a few months before I believe anything.

Good morning, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, RabBiT, Fatwa, and Sven!

RabBiT -- I’m glad you and BW are safe and that you are getting out more. I’m with you on the whole ‘common sense’ issue, unfortunately I can’t retire yet, so I have to make my way as well as possible.

I hope everyone is working their PMA to the max as the workweek starts.

Being in a coffee-deficient mode, I read that as ‘PMS’. I snogglesnorted.

Fatwa -- I also heard that the van ride included numerous sudden stops, adding credence to your nickel ride theory.

I did my good deed of the day this morning.
After dropping off some dry cleaning, I went to the donut store in the same shopping center. This store closes every other Monday & of course, this was that Monday. So I went further down the street to where I remembered another donut shop was located. It was closed & long gone. So I went to the next location, much further down the road. I saw a box turtle trying to cross a busy four-lane road about a foot out from the curb. There wa no place to pull over & I was in traffic. I dodged him and went on to the store. On the way back, I parked in the shopping center parking lot & started walking towards the turtle. Funny how far it was walking than zooming by. Oh, really less than a half of a block. I was happy to see that there was no turtle carcass splattered on the road. He had turned around & was now up against the curb. I picked him up & walked over to the edge of the fence. We were on a bridge & the creek was about 25 ft. below & not smooth water, but shallow & rocky. So I walked a little ways & leaned over the fence (it was about 4 feet high) and dropped him on some soft , wet earth-leaf mixture, aimed downhill towards the creek. It was the best that I could do for him.
So the Tarnation! of closed donut stores turned into Salvation! for one li’l ol’ turtle.

After donuts, this morning’s outing turned into a trip to the bank and a trip to Walmart Optical. Last night, BW’s glasses broke off on one of the arms. We have had the worst luck with these glasses. The nose pieces have come off a few times & a few months back, the arm broke off (same spot) and they replaced the frames. Today , the guy told us that our warranty had expired yesterday! But he went ahead & replaced them with the same kind off the shelf and didn’t charge us at all. So that was a blessing.
Last year BW needed an eye appt. & the Dr. next to Walmart was the fastest one we could get, that is why we went there. But now she is gone, so we won’t be back. She was just as “eye-tom-o-trist” as TM used to say. The new guy that I went to is an opthomologist , so BW may go there next time. She had also gone to see TM’S eye surgeon, but that might be too painful for her now.
We ended the outing with a wander through a General Dollar store, just looking around. They were out of the one thing that I wanted-coffee creamer. Ha!

It has been a month since TM died and when I check the webpage, the cause and manner of death is still “pending”… Nothing can be done about the probate until we get the death certificate. We are back to twilight weather again. Weird month.

See ya later

Good on you, Rabbit, for saving the wayward turtle. I’m sure there’s a turtle and hare joke in there somewhere.

I hope that some sense of normalcy will return to yours and BW’s lives. It does take time though--no hurrying things up. Glad that you both have each other.

Thinking of Baltimore and The Wire, one of my favorite bits of dialogue from the series:

“Don’t matter who did what to who at this point, fact is we went to war and now there ain’t no going back. I mean, shit, it’s what war is you ‘reknow, once you’re innit, you’re innit.. If it’s a lie, then we fight on that lie, but we got to fight” – Slim Charles
