In all the talk about birthright citizenship and the 14th Amendment, I havent heard anything from our political and intellectual experts about how this amendment was originally ratified. It’s an interesting story and some of the highlights are told here: http://www.constitution.org/14ll/no14th.htm
It’s the 14th Amendment that has been used to justify the “theory of incorporation” that has essentially destroyed the rights of the individual states and allowed the federal govt to become as powerful as it has.
Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa and Sven!
My brother is being a dick recalcitrant about what fixes to make to our parents’ home. He wants an electronic copy of the spreadsheet that Scott put together with the various options, costs, anticipated sales price, commissions, etc. and thinks the hard-copy I gave him has different numbers. I sent it to his work and home emails in two different formats (.xlsx and .xls) and he couldn’t open any of them from his work account, so he’s taking that as some sort of sign that he needs to slow down and think about this. He says he’s going to take his time and “pray and meditate” about this. He also wants to do his own cost/benefit analysis -- implying that he doesn’t trust mine (which I added to the hard-copy).
TGIF, GN!
Mac --
Did you get that security camera video from teh Svens’ Mountain Redoubt?
Good morning and hey Fatwa (don’t make it bad sing a sad song and make it better…heh)
Yes, that could have been a scene from the morning breakfast here.
G’morning, Sven!
You nearly made me *snorfle* coffee; har!

I’m all for getting rid of it.

It’s gotta be “beer-thirty” somewhere.
Also, you’re a freakin’ saint, Mr. O’. As witnessed by the fact your brother is still -- presumably -- corporeal.
Of course he does, Paddy. Sigh. Nice use of the replacement word, recalcitrant.
