Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Sven -- my local newspaper is running their annual “Best Places to Work” competition. Too bad you’re employer isn’t in this area or you could nominate them.
It is a shame that Teh Bestest Place Evar is probably “geographically undesireable” insofar as Paddy’s local paper’s competition is concerned.
If only they’d get that danged bullet train finished; then every place in California would be easily and quickly accessible by everyone. Too bad those rascally Republicans keep stymieing the good works of the kindly, caring, inclusive and reality-based progressives.
As of today, SB 1736 goes into effect in the great state of Tennessee. Here’s a summary:
Present law authorizes persons in control of property to post a notice that prohibits firearms on the premises. This bill imposes a duty of care on any person who posts their property to prohibit firearms whereby such person will be responsible for the safety of any handgun carry permit holder while the permit holder is on the posted premises and traversing any area to and from the premises and the location where the permit holder’s firearm is stored. The duty of care created by this bill will extend to the conduct of other invitees, trespassers, employees of the person or entity, vicious animals, wild animals, and defensible man-made and natural hazards.
Basically, business owners who demand law-abiding citizens disarm themselves will assume liability for injuries they incur while on the “posted premises.” Moreover, the business owners will be liable for injuries a concealed permit holder incurs while retreating from the business to a vehicle–during an emergency–to retrieve the gun the business owner barred.
I thought it was the golldurned Bahá’ís. Or Anabaptists.
=============
After a Paleostinian teen slit the throat of a sleeping thirteen-year-old American girl in Israel yesterday, I’d like to see the Israelis get a lot tougher.
In this instance, the murderous little fucker got killed; I’d like to see his remains fed into a meat grinder with some added pork and the resulting slurry dumped into a box or garbage can to be delivered to his family.
When they catch the motherfuckers alive, sterilize and lobotomize them then send them back to their families to take care of.
Fuck trying to make peace with those animals; exterminate them as they keep trying to do to the Israelis. The world hates Jooos anyway, so WTF.
Sadly, the only job Paliswinians seem to want to perform is killing Jews; I prefer the relatively high unemployment rate in that particular trade.
If they had midnight basketball, they’d either stab the balls and then seethe and whine about it. Or they’d try to make bombs out of them.
It’s sad that my peeps apparently learned very little from that unfortunate Holocaust thingy. When a bunch of people commit themselves in writing to slaughtering you and then proceed to follow through, maybe you should take them at their word.
Ammunition sales: Requires an ID and background check to purchase ammunition and creates a new state database of ammunition owners
Large ammunition clips: Bans possession of ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 bullets.
Bullet buttons: Two proposals would strengthen California’s assault weapon law by outlawing a small buttonhole used for quickly swapping out ammunition magazines
Limit on gun loans: A new restriction on loaning guns without background checks.
Stolen gun reporting: Stolen or lost guns would have to reported within five days.
False gun reporting: A new punishment for falsely reporting guns as stolen
Ghost guns: Homemade “ghost guns” would need to be registered and there would be new limits on selling them
Long gun limits: Only one rifle or shotgun could be purchased per month
Gun research: Urges Congress to lift the prohibition against publicly funded scientific research on the causes of gun violence and its effects on public health
Gun restraining orders: Bans a person subject to a “gun violence restraining order” from having any firearms or ammunition while the order is in effect
Gun theft: Clarifies that theft of a firearm is grand theft and is punishable as a felony
California violent crime increased 10 percent last year, the first rise since 2012, according to a report Friday from Attorney General Kamala Harris.
The number of violent crimes reached 166,588 in 2015, about 15,000 more than the previous year. Aside from the small uptick four years ago, and a few earlier blips, violent crime has been on a steady decrease over the last two decades.
The new report said homicides increased 9.7 percent, robberies rose 8.5 percent and aggravated assaults were up 8 percent.
TGIF, GN!

Is that some sort of ursine mutant or alien in your thread GIF? Aieeeeeee!
I appreciate this sentiment:
Good morning, happy Friday, and happy looooooong weekend!

Hai, Sven and Paddy!

Looks like the Amish are at it again this time in Bangladesh.

No, Fatwa. The answer is more understanding, more jobs, more education. That will fix everything.
And midnight basketball. You can’t have peace without midnight basketball.
Yes, it is sad that teh bestest place ever isn’t in OC--we’d win hands down.
OMG. I had forgotten about midnight basketball.
That thread vid reminds me of these “people”

Why is this so difficult to figure out?
You really can’t judge all cultures by U.S. standards, don’t you know.
Nobody at the synagogues I attended as a yout’ ever communicated that being Jewish is a suicide pact. 👿
Just read about the new ammo law in CA…Jeebus!
Yes, this is what we have to look forward to:
Ammunition sales: Requires an ID and background check to purchase ammunition and creates a new state database of ammunition owners
Large ammunition clips: Bans possession of ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 bullets.
Bullet buttons: Two proposals would strengthen California’s assault weapon law by outlawing a small buttonhole used for quickly swapping out ammunition magazines

Looking at the violent crime report for California for the 2010-2015 period for the percent increase for the type of weapon used in homicides:
Firearms: +3.3%
Knives: +5.2%
Blunt objects: +18.3%
Other: +30%
Seems like legislators should be focusing on Other and Blunt Objects before that gets out of control.
If only the purpose of the 2A were to help the citizenry fight rights-abusing tyrants…
What a surprise! A state very publicly stops prosecuting criminals and crime goes up. Can’t imagine why.
Obviously we need Other control. Anyone who wishes to purchase an other should be subject to strict background checks.
