Happy Hump Day, Gerbil Nation!
The school year is rapidly winding down and graduation preparations are happening. Senioritis is in full pandemic mode and is very contagious.
Teh Older just got an email rejection for the job he interviewed for last week.
In other news, one of my AP students is in the hospital for a depression-related break down. Her mom asked me to call to discuss the remainder of the year.
Bummers both, Paddy, but I’m sure your boy will land something and good thoughts for your student.
We got a couple of orioles that have been hanging around our backyard. They’d go after the hummingbird feeders that have bee guards and rock them until some nectar slopped out. Last month, I bought them their own feeder…and they stubbornly ignored it. Last weekend I thought I’d give them one more try, cleaned out their feeder, and filled it back up with their oriole food. Me and Mrs Sven took off for the day Sunday, and on Monday when I looked at it, it was bone dry. Cool, I thought; they finally figured the the thing out. So this morning I filled it back up with 16oz of solution, hung it out, and waited for them to show up; they ignored it again.
Soon tho, some bees started landing on it. No bee guards, so they plunged right in. Ten hours later, the feeder is about dry and all that have visited it have been bees. Two cups of fluid and they consumed it in one day.
Chicago beat Detroit in OT and so it’s the Kings against the Blackhawks for the Western Conference Championship. Not too confident about my team moving forward-our home ice record is 7-0 while our road record is 1-5. Chicago will have home ice and they are the #1 seed.
On the other hand, I’m happy to see them advance this far; it’s the first time in Kings history that they’ve gone to the conference finals back-to-back.

Not a good day.

I wouldn’t have expected that, Sven. I guess it should not be a surprise, it’s like marabunta ants.
Im just amazed at how much they consumed in a short period of time.
If I was still in California I would be a heavy drinker too.
Heh.
