Apparently so on the blackouts, Fatwa, but not for the same reasons. This time the power companies may shut off power to areas experiencing high fire dangers to avoid their equipment from starting another fire from downed lines, blown transformers, etc.
The utilities have offered to bury their lines in those areas where the lines tend to blow down, but they want to be paid to do it. That didn’t happen, so now they’ll just cut off power -- potentially for days at a time -- to prevent fires.

Fatwa -- it should be an interesting summer/early fall with the power companies. Even if you have solar panels, they won’t do you any good unless you’ve got batteries to go along with them.
I remember when I tried to synchrofuse synthetic toggle bearings by hand, with only a manual detremmulator. What I wouldn’t have given for one of those tools!

What a mess re SCE. I can’t help but feel shutting down power is, at least in-part, a strong-arm tactic on their part.
Between them, the regulators and the Assembly, there’s no one to root for.
