Huh…I don’t see any doorbuster specials like 5 lbs. of Brussels sprouts for $2.99, BOGO hamster wheels or all Hello Kitty merchandise at 50% off. Did the merchandising department completely drop the ball?!?
Picked-up a message at the JimCo office last night from the property manager on-call for one of the companies we’ve worked for for decades. There’s a leak at Mrs. Shyster’s HOA in the building we’re (allegedly) going to receive a signed proposal for by Monday.
(The leak is no surprise; we told them about 15 months ago they had some serious issues, they mostly dodged those bullets last winter and dragged their asses all of this year.)
Phoned both the on-call manager and the affected homeowner about 6:20 p.m. PST and haven’t heard back from either of them, so I presume it’s not too bad a leak. (There are some existing conditions throughout Shyster Gardens HOA caused by a previous roofer which could result in pretty catastrophic leaks; it’s happened before.)
Oh well…I suppose I’ll know more later today. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Happy Black Friday -- that’s raaaaaacis! -- Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Had a nice crowd over last night -- 12 -- and much good food was consumed. Today we have to reset the tables and chairs, then begin decorating for Christmas.
Glad you had a nice time yesterday; hope you have good leftovers.
Heard back from the resident of the Shyster Gardens unit; not anywhere near as bad a leak as I’d feared it might be.
(All of the roof drains installed by another company which we’ve had to service to-date have woefully inappropriate couplings to the drain lines, which lead to pretty catastrophic “water intrusion” even in fairly light rains when they fail. That’s not the case re this one.)
I went to a pot luck for a couple of hours for thanks giving. I made my Great Grandmother’s Potato Soup. Harper stayed home and slept, but she was wide awake when I got home and we made turkey sandwiches with butter and cranberry sauce, and dipped them in gravy.
After doing the review of Fifine’s microphone (which is pretty good, by the way, I was surprised how good it was) the company wants to give me more free stuff and review it. So that’s kinda fun.
And we got our first snowfall of the year. Maybe 4-6 inches, but it’s already mostly gone by now.
We were drinking Pero and watching it snow. (Does anyone remember Postum(tm)?” You can only get it through limited nostalgia runs now, which is too bad because I think it was probably better than the non-coffee type roasted grain beverages you can get commonly now.
And I truly do love you guys. Happy leftovers day! Yum! Did you have teh Squash of Teh Gods yesterday, Fatwa? I brought a mess of pottage here for you wheelies, what’ja bring me? I’m guessing Gentle Mac smuggled in some brussle sprouts for me.
Sven, Paddy, Fatwa and JerryYouJustKnowI’mFeelingGreat…how I’ve missed you all! I talk to dear Machinist more but still not enough. It’s good to see you all. I do read the wheel more than you might be aware and you are always in my prayers.
Goodness gracious it’s truly wonderful to “see” you!
Yes, we did have Squash of the Godz yesterday. And today. (FTR would have sent us home unfed yesterday if we’d shown-up without it.)
We made two batches so we could leave some with the children and still have an unsullied -- until this morning -- pan we didn’t have to share. (But we’d share some with you if you were here…)
dv8 --
Glad you got a decent new mic and that they want to send you more stuff.
As far as Black Friday tech deals at Amazon go, there’s no consumer stuff that really gets me excited. I will probably acquire a gaming console and large monitor at some point, but my day-to-day tech needs are met with an adequate desktop, laptop, tablet and smartphone. None of it’s cutting edge, but it does everything I require and then some
There’s some music gear that I kind o’ lust after, but right now it’s more “want” than “need” stuff; I’ll keep saving my pennies. 😉
She’s been dozing a lot today, which I think is good for her. (Since part of her “under the weatherness” is lack of sleep. She’s taking some “use ’em or lose ’em” PTO days next week; iz nice for her.)
I did, my gentle friend. We had Elena’s oldest sister and her father over, and her younger sister who has been apart for the last six years, so it was very spec and nice.
Very nice! I did have Twix’s from two siblings which was quite nice really. Touching messages of longing to be together once again. I’ve been working on it. We’re a far-flung family. My eldest sister has moved back from Germany and we are looking forward visiting when I can stay awake more.
dv8, I need to buy Windows 10 Pro to replace Win 7 on my PC, and I want to get a new 500GB SSD to install it on so I can keep my current one for a while, just in case.
And on that note I think I will go nap so I can be awake later for Dv8. He gets lonely when I sleep too much but someone’s gotta do the sleeping no one else has the time to do.
I’m still trying to sell sleep credits like carbon credits but I think I have too honest a face and people see the little smirk I have and won’t buy ’em. Grrr.
Later gerbillaters! It’s been fantastic to see you all!!
We’ve been listening to Christmas music as Mrs. Paddy decorates the house. The last CD was Chanticleer. I think the next will be Sylvia Woods -- Three Harps for Christmas.
Great idea, Paddy! I was just putting on Christmas music so it’d be all set when dv8 got home. We’re going to decorate later today, too. I’ll put on Sylvia Woods and then Chanticleer. I’ll bet we have a lot of the same Christmas music.
Happy Black Friday, Wheelizens!

I’m unaquainted with your HOA woes. HOAs do suck though, I live in one. I wish I just had a regular house. But this is fine for now, I guess.
The Black Friday deals at Amazon are very tempting. All kinds of amazing tech for cheap! Ima resist tho.
Maybe…….
Great thread pic, Mac.
H, Fatwa. Good morning, GN!
Good chunk of rainfall yesterday and the distant mountains are covered in snow. Chilly outside.
Curious. Has Jim teh Roofer factored in rising sea levels and attendant increases in rainfall in his 10 year business plan?
Hi, Sven --
Perhaps we should acquire some expertise in below-grade waterproofing. And/or swimming pools. 👿
Seems highly unlikely -- but not utterly impossible -- that JimCo will still be in business in a decade.
Sven, when you come back ’round, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your dear wife! Do you still make jewelry? How are you, Sir? You sound happy. Grateful.

Good Afternoon Wheelies!

I remember it. Have not seen it for ages.
Boo Kitty is still a liar…just sayin’

Did I do it?!? Did I post it correctly? Am I here?!
sQueaK!

(Shhhhhh…..teh thread is just sleeping)
It looks more as though it’s pining for the fjords if that image is accurate. 😉
Pining, yeah, that’s what it’s doing.
Or perhaps ceased to be.
Hi, dv9 and…Harper!!1!
Harper --
Goodness gracious it’s truly wonderful to “see” you!

Fatwa! You slipped in while I was busy ki…er…putting Teh thread to sleep. Great to see you! Give my fond regards to BrendaPieK!
Regards to Brenda: done.
Quoth Brenda, “Tell Harper I love her!”
(She’s a bit under teh weather or she’d jump on right now.)
I’m sorry she’s not well. Sleeping is traditional for this day. She always was a lover of history and tradition!
Happy Squeak!
Squeakity-squeak and a “meep” back at you.
She’s been dozing a lot today, which I think is good for her. (Since part of her “under the weatherness” is lack of sleep. She’s taking some “use ’em or lose ’em” PTO days next week; iz nice for her.)
Harper! dv8! How wonderful to see you both!
Harper -- I have missed your cheery squeak!
Dear Paddy, it’s so good to see you! How is your family?
They are well, dear lady. Thank you for asking. I’d love to hear about the doings of your household, when you are up to it.
I think I heard the gentle song of a harp!
What a lovely harp, Gentle Mac. How are you, my friend. Did you have a good holiday?
I did, my gentle friend. We had Elena’s oldest sister and her father over, and her younger sister who has been apart for the last six years, so it was very spec and nice.
Very nice! I did have Twix’s from two siblings which was quite nice really. Touching messages of longing to be together once again. I’ve been working on it. We’re a far-flung family. My eldest sister has moved back from Germany and we are looking forward visiting when I can stay awake more.
How wonderful. I hope you are up to it soon.
So nice to see you Gentle Lady. Truly something to be thankful for.
dv8, I need to buy Windows 10 Pro to replace Win 7 on my PC, and I want to get a new 500GB SSD to install it on so I can keep my current one for a while, just in case.
Sounds like a good plan, Gentle Mac. That’s what David said on his way out the door to go to the pharmacy.
Thank you. Don’t over tax yourself, please. We are all excited to see you here.
Just Wednesday I was looking at the picture of you showing your very young daughter the harp. I think that might be my favorite picture of all.
That evil Boo Kitty, never to be trusted.
Heh!
Bless you…
(((Poof)))
Rest well, Gentle Lady. I look forward to seeing you again. Thank you.

Nity- nite
How wonderful to see you here, Miss Harper!
