I wish my American co-religionists would get over their dangerously foolish disdain for fighting back, arm themselves and learn how to shoot. What part of “never again” do they not get??
(Big, funny, Orthodox) hat-tip to the gentleman who stopped the West Freeway Church of Christ goblin yesterday. Read earlier (can’t find teh link now) that he’s a firearms instructor who made a ~50-ft. head shot on a moving target in less than six seconds.
Good morning, Fatwa. I downloaded video of it last night. It was an impressive shot and very fast, 3 to 6 seconds and done. I have seen many keyboard warriors claim with contempt that having a handgun in a theater, restaurant, or church, is useless if someone opens fire with a shotgun or assault rifle. I guess the shooter yesterday did not know that as he died in seconds.
He was hiding his face so it seems he planned to commit his murders in the minutes before police could be hoped for and then get away to bask in his fame or do it again. I couple of volunteers with concealed handguns stopped that, as has happened before. It will be interesting to see liberals explain how the people would have been safer hiding and waiting for police to arrive (and hoping the police don’t shoot the survivors.)
It will be treated as an exception and then quickly forgotten. The other thing that will make the rounds, whether true or not, is that this was a “trained security guard” to differentiate from just ordinary citizens that thankfully didn’t shoot more parishioners in their panic or were shot themselves by responding police.
Paddy Sven posted some video of the church shooting on yesterday’s thread, but the detail was not terrific. Nonetheless, that was an extremely impressive shot and I am glad that many innocents were spared injury or death.
While it’s almost surely temporary, I think there’s a sea change right now re American Jews and guns. I don’t expect it to be permanent, but I hope some will change their thinking and then act on it. I know that in NY and NJ -- among other places -- that’s easier said than done.
I think some civil disobedience re weapons in those places is in order, but I also understand that’s a very dangerous undertaking. However, nothing says “never again” like armed people…with the will to use those arms to protect themselves and their families.

Was recently considering the purchase of some music gear I really want but then started thinking that perhaps bulk .38 ammo and shot shells -- and maybe a Sig P365 -- would be wiser. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I know I’ve written this before, but I just don’t understand the Jew hatrid. To me, there is little correlation except that maybe people on the east coast tend to be leftists/Marxists, and perhaps there are more Jewish people on the east coast? I know that Religious Jews tend to be rather conservative, and non-religious ones tend to be left leaning, but that’s pretty much the case with everyone, not just Jewish people.
So when I hear otherwise sensible sounding people targeting Jews, rather than Marxists, to me, it makes them sound like idiots.

I watched that video a couple of times -- it happened so fast. Very impressive response, not only from the designated security guard, but by many of the other congregants, including those who were directing others out of the sanctuary. I’m sure Joe Biden and others would have preferred a blood-bath rather than this still sad outcome. That may sound harsh, but that is the reality of their favored position.

The new law letting Texans carry in church just went into affect in September, I read. Biden was openly critical of Gov. Abbott for signing it.
I also read that de Blasio blamed Trump for the stabbings of Jews. I lack words worthy of the situation.
The media was terribly disappointed that Saturday’s attacker wasn’t a white supremacist.
