My heart goes out to all the victims -- as well as their friends and families -- of the Boston bombing…criminy. (News of the murdered eight-year-old affected me in a very different way than it would have prior to wedding BrendaK and acquiring a whole family.)
To my surprise, I’m finding it fairly easy thus far to maintain a “wait and see” attitude re the perp(s). Whom I hope will be rounded-up swiftly and held to account.
In honor of your birfday, I decided to post this little diagram I made of your -- and Mrs Sven’s -- mountain redoubt after my last visit; I hope the two of you don’t mind.
Did anyone catch the pawthetic FBI “press conference” around 9:30 this morning? One overpaid jackhole whose words were semantically null beyond “we don’t know nothin’ ’bout nothin’ at this time”.
More than half a dozen other tax leeches in suits standing around him with nothing to contribute…strongly suggesting the gummint is not taking this matter very seriously and/or that we’ve got lots of dead-weight on the FBI payroll. Why were all of these people on-stage for a content-less press conference instead of looking for the sub-human scum who are responsible for the bombing?
The sadly hilarious capper was, after Mr. G-Man concluded his pointless remarks and reporters were wandering off, some fat bastard in a police uniform -- replete with epaulets -- got behind the podium saying (essentially) that “we don’t have any other press conferences scheduled today, but we might have one later.”
Nice that we have so many hard-working, dedicated and heroic LEOs doing so farking little to actually investigate a terrorist act. (After they screwed the pooch by letting it occur in the first place.)
Edit -- BrendaK thinks my last sentence is a bit harsh. Perhaps that’s so, but the press conference was a despicable waste of manpower…which could have been better spent by putting some additional “investigation” into “FBI”.
Press conferences for the most part are little more than wastes of time and an effort to show us that something is happening.
Everyone would like a quick resolution to this attack, but that may not happen. At the same time, I imagine everyone is working as hard as they possibly can and the ones on stage are probably the ones that they don’t need investigating anything anyhow.
If days go by without an arrest or firm suspect, the media and pundits that have been slightly more restrained than usual, will quickly split up into their respective camps and start wildly speculating. I’m sure the odds-on favorite in the media betting pool is for this to be a white guy, Tea Partier, militia member, racist.
I think they have to be vague at this point. It takes time and resources, the best efforts of trained professionals, to focus group the various left wing trial balloons being floated by the press and see which ones serve the administration. You don’t want to be caught doing the wrong steps as you dance on those graves. This is too good an opportunity to waste and there is too much potential for blame to not move carefully.
This leaves me ill in it’s viciousness and I am disgusted to see hacks on either side trying to exploit it politically already. I half expected Obama to follow the Clinton lead after OK City but it seems he didn’t. I would like to hope he would continue on that higher road but experience and things he said or didn’t say leave me little hope. It would just be too out of character for him or his minions.
