Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Sunday salutations from drear yet Happy Larryville, GN!

Mac --

Well-played re this morning’s thread pic.

=================

While I’m glad that (apparently) an armed “good guy” prevailed, this local story bugs me:

Atlanta police said a man was shot and killed in Little Five Points early Saturday morning after he tried to rob a group of people waiting in line to buy the new, $180 sneakers, the Nike LeBron X EXT, which were released today.

One man in the line pulled out a gun and shot the would-be robber, witnesses told police, who have charged no one and consider the shooting to be self-defense.

The shooter then got back in line, according to Channel 2 Action News.

“He really stood up for all of us,” Taylor White told Channel 2. He said he was in line when the shooting happened. “I salute the homie that did that.”

Okay…dead goblin = good.
$180 for farking sneakers = WTF??!?!
Customers remaining in line after a fatal shooting = double WTF??!?!

What makes the LeBron X EXT so special?

“It’s the leather and the denim,” the man said. “It’s basically a pair of pants on your foot.” He wore an unusual pair of Addidas sneakers with a furry, leopard-like print.

WTF x 3.

“Everyone wants them because they’re exclusives,” said Leslie Garcia, adding that she planned to buy a pair for her 5-year old son, D.J.

Between stuff like this plus the ongoing IRS and NSA revelations, I’m starting to feel a little unmoored from reality right about now. I’m seriously tempted to pour myself a slug of tequila at 9:47 on a Sunday morning.

A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa!

I wonder how many people in that line have EBT cards?
I denounce myself.

I admit I thought the same thing, Paddy. Ergo, I denounce you, too. 😉

AoS commenting on David Gregory commenting on that Greenwad feller-Gregory’s comments:

“You are a polemicist here; you have a point of view; you are a columnist; you’re a lawyer. You do not dispute that Edward Snowden has broken the law, do you? . . . To the extent that you have aided and abetted Snowden, even in his current movements, why shouldn’t you, Mr. Greenwald, be charged with a crime?”

The same David Gregory that got away with breaking DC’s gun laws. The cojones on these fellers….

Yeah…but I’ve never heard of anyone waiting in line overnight in front of a store to purchase the latest must-have cherub-laden porcelain.

You need to get out more, Fatwa. Why, I just bet a certain red-haired young lady would be more than willing to stand in line for a shot at those porcelain cherubs!

Sadly, you may be correct…despite the fact we already have at least one cherub-covered horror. (ScaryPorcelainK insists she gets a pass on that one, as it was originally owned by a beloved family member; IMHO, that’s not an acceptable excuse.)

Cherub-Covered Horror-another good band name.

Cool. Arizona unveils its newest legal citizen verification system (LCVS) tonite:

Why don’t we use teh wire as a precarious “path to citizenship” for folks who are here illegally?

OK, now that was pretty darn incredible.

Mac’s point regarding the list of those killed by guns being read by really concerned citizens who just want to do something:

http://washingtonexaminer.com/1-in-12-on-bloombergs-gun-victims-list-are-crime-suspects/article/2532224

1 in 12 on Bloomberg’s gun victims list are crime suspects.
