I was wondering; why is the MLK statue made of white stone?
So, school starts for me on Thursday, with two days of meetings and “professional development”, followed by one day to get my classroom set up (I’ve already put in a couple of days doing just that and will also go in today). When do we find out where we are supposed to be on Thursday, at what time, and what we’ll be doing? Why that wasn’t until yesterday at 4:30, which is an improvement over some years. The “professional development” that I get to sit through on Friday? ERWC -- expository reading & writing course -- a course developed by the Cal State University system in conjunction with high school faculty to address the readiness of juniors and seniors to handle the critical reading and writing necessary for college success. I sure hope the wi-fi works in whatever room I get put in.

IIRC, the family also demanded several hundred thousand dollars in various “licensing fees”; they’ve pretty much copyrighted everything about Dr. King except for the individual hairs of his moustache. And enforce said copyrights with the diligence of Cerberus.
I sure hope the wi-fi works in whatever room I get put in.

Rhetorical question: why are public school administrators nearly all colossal wankers?
I was listening to some liberal talk radio station on the way home tonight, Paddy. And the host was furious about the whole idea of intervening in Syria for a lot of reason. But what I noticed is that he wouldnt personalize it; in 15 minutes he never once mentioned Obama’s name. It was about the military industrial complex; it was about America doing the wrong thing; it was about unnamed govt officials urging us into war.
When a Republican does something wrong, it’s considered typical of all Republicans; when a lib does something that other lefties don’t like, well then it’s America’s fault, it’s the white man’s fault, it’s western civilization’s fault.
I hope no one is cranky this morning.
