Morning news said the Commissary will open at 9 this morning. So the civilian cashiers will get to go to work. Seems like the store was closed just long enough to rot all the produce.
Have I said lately how much I despise TJEF?
Not to mention Day 8 of the CasaK “Fuck You, That’s Why!” Festival of Civil Disobedience.
G’mornin’, Hummer RabBeet!
Hiya, Sven!
I’ll be very curious to see what cockamamie answer I get from my House Rep’s (cursed be his name) office when I enquire as to why he didn’t vote a resounding “NO!” on H.R. 3223, the “Federal Employee Retroactive Pay Fairness Act”. (How is it “fair” to make taxpayers pay for even more poor-quality services they didn’t receive?)
And since I’m posing rhetorical questions: Does ObamaCare provide any medical services besides Proctology? 😉
Good morning, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, RabBiT, Sven, and Fatwa!
Greetings from smokey SoCal. A fire that started yesterday at a green waste facility (read huge compost pile) expanded to 30 acres, but has been contained. However, it is still smoldering and the Santa Ana winds are pushing the smoke across the coastal regions.
Did Mac provide us with a pic of hummer interruptus?
Tractor-trailer drivers will intentionally clog the inner loop of the Washington, D.C., beltway beginning on the morning of Oct. 11, according to a coordinator of the upcoming “Truckers Ride for the Constitution” rally.
Organizers of the three-day ride want to call attention to a litany of trucker frustrations and express their disapproval of national political leaders.
Earl Conlon, a Georgia trucker who is handling logistics for the protest, told U.S. News tractor-trailer drivers will circle the beltway “three lanes deep” as he rides with other participants to Congress to seek the arrest of congressmen for allegedly disregarding the Constitution.
The truckers circling I-495 will keep the left lane open for emergency vehicles, Conlon said, but “everybody that doesn’t have a supporter sticker on their window, good luck: Nobody in, nobody out.” The trucks will be going the 55 mile-per-hour speed limit.

Appropriate we’re the Tech Squeaky Wheel … ‘cuz my company’s IT department is having a REALLY bad month.
Some idjit clicked on the link in a spam email which occasioned the manual malware scan for every. computer. in. the. building. last week. Which hosed a bunch of computers.
Which didn’t go over well because someone managed to DELETE the contents of 63 people’s directories and system setups a couple of weeks ago and those STILL aren’t completely back up.
And ‘den! They “upgraded” the VoIP system weekend before last. And…my phone’s gone. I can’t even call into my voicemail.
I keep hearing circus music every time I log in now. They’re so busy I haven’t even gotten a response to my help desk ticket.
And that’s just the work sh¡t.
Oh, congrats on the Raiders win, Sven. My “boss” is taking a sick day today because of it. 😉
I’ve been catching glimpses of #shutdowntheatre, and I have to give Boner props for, “He’s got my number…”
Still.
Blocking the WWII monument?
Soliciting sob stories on the web?
Shutting down Amber Alerts but “Let’s Move” is still up?
Blocking off parking for Mt. Rushmore?
Prohibiting commercial fishing off the Florida coast?
And meanwhile the borders are WIDE open.
Petty, juvenile, JEF SCOAMF.
I wish a pox on him, but he’s probably already got it.
I was told some…interesting info about the government shutdown that I’m not going to share just at the moment, but might later. That information has led me to wonder, though: what if the shutdown is ALSO being used as a smokescreen behind which to sneak immigration reform and other hotly contested items into law?
No matter which side of the divide you are on with the issues, that would breathtaking in it’s audacity. If it happens. I’ll be watching, to see if I need to go ahead and seek treatment for derangement or if I’m actually on the right track.
If this shutdown ends either right before or right after Congress passes a bill on immigration reform, I reckon we’ll know.
“According to the letter, the ATF denied Dodson’s request to try to publish a book about his version of the Fast and Furious scandal because the bureau predicted it would have “a negative impact on morale in the Phoenix (Field Division) and would have a detrimental” impact on ATF relationships with the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration.”
I am sure when 75% of the drug cops in NY were busted that hurt moral, as did the Rampart scandals in LA. I guess we should have just hushed those up and continued business as usual to spare tender feelings?
Hummin’ (bird) O grabbin’!

Well, duh!
It’s also been five months since the IRS scandal broke and we still don’t have many answers.

Hai, Paddy!
Perhaps tomorrow’s thread pic will be of swallows.
No fires of any note this side of town, Paddy, and no wind this morning which is nice after the last couple of days.
And did I mention that the Raiders won a game?
And pulling my manners out of Brenda’s dryer: Good morning everybody!!!
Glad your Raiders won last night, Sven; also that teh winds have died down.
We’re still seeing some rain from the tail-end of the Hurricane That Wasn’t, but the Burning Orb has made an appearance.
I’ll bet you even remembered to clean the lint screen.
Huh…I thought being green was supposed to be good for Gaia and teh chiiiiildreeeeeeeen. 😉
I really, really hope this actually occurs:
The whole article’s worth a quick skim.

Good evening, everyGerbillybody!

Hell, why sneak it all? Out here in California, we’re doing it in the light of day.
“While Washington waffles on immigration, California’s forging ahead,” Brown said, according to published reports. “I’m not waiting.”
We are so f*cked out here.
And this about says it all:
“According to the letter, the ATF denied Dodson’s request to try to publish a book about his version of the Fast and Furious scandal because the bureau predicted it would have “a negative impact on morale in the Phoenix (Field Division) and would have a detrimental” impact on ATF relationships with the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration.”
