O O O Grabbin’ Sunday

Happy rainy Sunday morning Greetings EveryGerbillyBody!

*phew!*
It’s been a busy week. Lots of running around, and with our friends executing the “Exodus from CA Part I” we spent a lot of time at their new place too (we seriously have to teach him how to use a riding lawn mower to its best advantage).

That was one text I got, I don’t even remember which day “If we buy a lawn mower can y’all come up and help us unload it?”
::snicker::
I pretty much hadn’t made any dinner plans expecting either a mower or a refrigerator would need unloading.

Oh! And I thought *we* had “Sucker” written on the front gate, THEY’VE already had a yellow lab come visit AND a cat! Word spreads quickly in the country!

This coming week should be *somewhat* calmer, but we’ve a lot of appointments -- I’ve got a follow-up on the fibromyalgia diagnosis, and Mr. X has an MRI and then a consult with the ortho.
And somewhere in there, I’ve got a metric-sh¡t-ton of work to get done.
So the song remains the same.
::sigh::
And the co-worker (the good one) I’ve been trying to train still just doesn’t get the concept. Or just lacks the intellectual curiosity to piece it together on his own. I’m going to do what my boss did to me when I first took over this same thing, “I’ve walked you through this a couple of times now, I’ll answer technical questions, but you’re on your own.” He’s going to be bummed. And if he takes it to Teh Mangler™, it’s toast.

::sigh::
But I gotta let it go. I can’t carry the whole thing anymore.

OK, enough whinging from me. I love y’all.

G’day from from chilly, sunny and Happy Larryville, GN!
Hey, RabBeet & TeX!

TeX --

T’anks -as always -- for your update.

Sven --

Cheers for last night’s link ; Greenfield made a lot of salient points. While the entire situation’s regrettable, I’m glad to see that more and more folks with whom I think I could peacefully co-exist seem to be “getting it”.

He is an interesting writer; spent some time this morning going through his earlier stuff.

The last two weeks of my job have actually been OK. Picked up a few allies and began forging a new direction which so far, has yet to be stomped down. And it’s something I want to do AND that will actually be beneficial to the company. On the really plus side, I’m teaming up with another writer that is quite good and enthusiastic and that I can learn from.

Worst case, I’ve gotten use to not working at home--accepted that whole M-F work schedule thing--and have gotten back into the swing of things, so if doesnt work out, at least I’ll be in decent enough shape to find something else.

Hey another plus thing, me and Mrs Sven spent an afternoon with a travel agent; we are pretty close to booking an 11-day Alaskan cruise for our silver anniversary next year. It will be, if memory serves, our fourth vacation, including the honeymoon thing, of over a week’s duration.

Aint this the way it always is?

“She said, ‘I was all for Obamacare until I found out I was paying for it,'”

Regarding the Obamacare web site being fixed; after having been lied to for years about what this law would or wouldn’t do, after being lied to about the readiness to launch status of the web site, and after all the other lies this administration has told, the media and pundits seem to totally believe them when they say it will all be fixed by the end of November.

Sure it will. I mean, that other surge in Iraq worked out OK, and this is a tech ‘surge’ so they’ll get things under control.

My bet is that it will appear to work better, on the UI/front end, but that behind the scenes it will be messed up even worse. I’ve worked enough big IT projects to see where this one is likely going.

More good news: I hadnt heard about this before:

“At this time, it’s unclear if Doe Run or another company will open a new lead smelter in the United States that can meet the more stringent lead air quality standards by using more modern smelting methods. What is clear is that after the Herculaneum smelter closes its doors in December, entirely domestic manufacture of conventional ammunition, from raw ore to finished cartridge, will be impossible.”

Drive-by:

Sven --

Glad your job’s gotten better; hope that continues!

Mac --

It’s not like folks weren’t warned for years that POSOTUSCare would cause all sorts of problems. I find myself quite unsympathetic for all of the people who voted for it and hosed themselves. Alas, I doubt they’ll learn the actual lesson.

This tickled me:

I wonder who’s pushing the current “libertarians are anarchists!!!1!” meme; I’m seeing that a lot at both liberal and SoCon blogs. Also: “Libertarians are just Republicans who want to smoke pot and have sex.”

Apparently, the Evul Koch Brothers are funding the libertarians; I guess they’re sending my checks to the same wrong address that the Zionist banking conspirators are using.

*Sigh*

I feel like such a tool.
