Good morning, Gerbil Nation!
I got to play with lasers yesterday! Really powerful lasers! You could see the particles flying off the surface of the metal when the laser hit it. It was cool! Today we’re going to use a computer model of the LA basin to see the affects of various changes in emission levels on the overall air quality. It will be interesting to see what happens if you get rid of all the cars (I predict we’ll still have poor air quality).
I can see my own icon but nobody else’s right now. If it helps you sort-out anything, earlier today I got kicked-out at least a half-dozen times when I tried to log in…just cycled back to the log-in page repeatedly.

Yay! Did you say, “No, Mr. Bond; I expect you to die” at any point?
I found out last week. He thinks within six months I will need to get them operated on. I hope they can do that with lasers. I have no idea what it costs but I think I’m lucky as most other problems are harder to deal with. I got my new glasses today and they leave much to be desired. I will go back in a week or so but I suspect these might be as good as I can get. He said they would not be good for more than about six months and then he didn’t think he could correct them. I renew my license this year, hope I can get that done. I was 20/80 in one eye before the new glasses and he said he didn’t think he could get better than 20/30. It is annoying because I have always been far sighted. This is the first time in my life I have had problems with distance. Not used to it. They should be able to do something about it.
While not normally treated with lasers, cataract surgery is an outpatient procedure using local anesthesia, in much the same way that Lasik is performed (the FDA has approved a number of femtosecond lasers for this purpose). If you don’t have health insurance, then cataract surgery is about $3k per eye. Most insurance covers cataract surgery
Who stole my avatar??????? I liked that thing. But what I really dislike is this avatar inequality that is fully on display here. It’s not fair. Darn it.
Nice to see Mac and Jerrie dropped-in yesterday; sorry I missed youse guys.
Got nothin’ else at present.
“Hey…come back here! RAWR!!!”
The Bear is loose!

Wait until Sarah Palin goes hunting.
Mrs. Butterworth never looked more lovely…and scary.
Ditto on Fatwa’s niceness.
Small victories yesterday out of SCOTUS, but I’ll take ’em. Off to work.
Poof
Hi, Sven!
Isn’t that an oxymoron? (Especially given the two images I posted this morning?)
Maybe it was ironic. 😉

Roger that; me too.
Got a chuckle from that graphic, Mac.
Cataracts suck.

Cataract problems, Mac? Can you get them taken care of?

Oh bother!

Thank you, Paddy. I had no idea on price. That is not too bad. I have no insurance. Guess I better start checking around.
Don’t tell Obama.
