Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Independence Day greetings from Happy Larryville, GN!

Marketing FAIL…that’s no way to package French vanilla and hazelnut-flavored creamers. (A Belgian flag might have been more appropriate.) šŸ˜‰

The kids and grands are coming over at twilight this evening to light-off the remaining GA-legal fireworks from the Brobdingnagian “stocking stuffer” of same I got courtesy of SparklyFirecrackerK for Christmas, 2012. (Which have gotten us through two New Years Eves plus last year’s July 4th; it was a large stash.)

GoodWifeK and I will probably precede that by going out for dinner -- something we rarely do -- and enjoying fajitas in celebration of our second favorite country: Texas.

Happy 4th, folks! Although from what I recall of history, the cats sided with the British whereas dogs went with the colonists.

Shaping up to be a hot one out here today and then maybe cooling down a bit over the weekend. California though is boned this year in terms of drought and those wonderful predictions for a wet winter seem to be fading away.

But in thirty years or so, we’ll have a bullet train that will be the envy of the world!

Hai, Sven and Mac!

The cats sat back and let the pets sort out who was alpha dog and then demanded to be fed by whoever won.

Har! Also lurve teh Shakespeare cat.

But in thirty years or so, weā€™ll have a bullet train that will be the envy of the world!

By then, the cost ought to be well north of a half-trillion dollars.

“Bullet train” sounds pretty violent (and/or raaaaacist); will it be micro-stamped?

Come on, guys, it’s Independence Day--let’s not be pessimistic about the bullet train. Besides, it’s an investment in the future which will pay huge dividends for the next generations of Californians and the rest of the world too. Gaia will be thanking us as will the children.

Don’t tell me you are against the future or Gaia or children.

Violence, racism and murder are never bad when the State does it.

It is when directed toward the wrong people (i.e., Native Americans, blacks, etc.) but perfectly justifiable when used on us white male oppressors.

Donā€™t tell me you are against the future or Gaia or children.

Um, I hate to break this to you, Sven…

Besides, what have teh chiiiiildreeeeeen or Gaia done for me lately? The kids laboring under substandard conditions at Arbuckle’s Monocle and Spats Works insist on being fed and allowed to sleep occasionally. Such wretched, ungrateful little urchins.

Happy Independence Day, Gerbil Nation!
Teh family is sitting in the living room watching the Huntington Beach parade on TV (much better than fighting the crowds for a parking spot, lugging stuff to a spot to barely be able to see everything, then reversing the process). Later, we’ll go to teh MIL’s for the annual block party.
