Montana: where wolves are wolves and the sheep are nervous.
Exciting times we live in. Each morning I wake up, grab a cup of coffee, and turn on the teevee in anticipation of seeing another part of the world going up in flames. Or another govt dept or official caught up in some new scandal. Or of hearing more dire predictions of the coming Christian theocracy. Or more examples of racism, sexism, fearmongering, hatemongering, fishmongering.
Recently came across this all-too-pertinent quotation:
“Decency, security and liberty alike demand that government officials shall be subjected to the same rules of conduct that are commands to the citizen. In a government of laws, existence of the government will be imperiled if it fails to observe the law scrupulously. Our Government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the Government becomes a lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. To declare that in the administration of the criminal law the end justifies the means—to declare that the Government may commit crimes in order to secure the conviction of a private criminal—would bring terrible retribution.” -- Justice Louis Brandeis
Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning Fatwa and Sven!
Fatwa -- you got a problem with wolves playing leapfrog with sheep? Aren’t wolves allowed to have a little fun before they slaughter the sheep? Have you learned nothing from this administration?
*Looks at thread pic with tilted head*
What the…
*Drinks more coffee*
I’m still confuzzled.
Happy Friday, GN!
Given events of yesterday, this seems strangely appropriate:
BBL.
Shouldn’t Putin be facing the other way?
*ducks and runs*
