TeX is in the sticks about an hour north of Houston — give or take a bit, or a lot.

Paddy’s pretty much on the money; we’re almost exactly between Austin and Houston.

Really, I’ve been keepin’ up with y’all through the threads -- I have. Criminy, I don’t know where the days go. Maybe now with Daylight Savings, I’ll have more time. Well, at least I know we won’t have an hour to spend by the pond fishing every evening -- not if we want to get in the house while it’s still light out…
::snicker::

Let’s see…my two big accomplishments for the last two weeks were:
a) made it through the VFD fundraiser in one piece;
ii) made it through the vulture I hit on the country road.

And I used to think fish guts were disgusting. Good. Gawd. that was awful.

Happy Birfday to Mrs. Sven.
Prayers for everyone, even those who think they don’t need it.

*mwah*!

Fall back; me like.

Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Shivery Sunday greetings from 37F Happy Larryville, GN!

Hai, TeX, Mac and Sven!

Glad TeX lived through teh VFD fundraiser (which I hope was successful); bummer about teh vulture run-in…serves the stupid thing right for carrion-on in the middle of the road. Any idea what scavenges dead vultures…walking gar, perhaps?

Happy Birfday 2/7 to Mrs. Sven!

A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, TeX, Mac, Sven, and Fatwa!

Rain the last couple of nights has failed to come through the new skylight, so that’s good.

C y’all laterz!

Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Hai, Paddy!

Glad to read the new skylight seems to be watertight; yay!

====================

Since I’m pretty equally disdainful of Team Red and Team Blue, I’m almost totally ambivalent about this election. While I will go the polls -- and hope the Senate gets flipped -- at this point, really, what difference does it make?

Maybe SCOTUS, depending what happens over the next couple of years. But IMHO, we really need more Clarence Thomases and Alex Kozinskis at every level of the federal court system, and that ain’t gonna happen either way.

AFAIC, U.S. elections have effectively become a “suggestion box” for slaves; neither Team will reduce the size or scope of gummint. Nor will they increase personal liberty.

Which makes everything else moot; I haz a sad.

I’m in the same boat, Fatwa, but still I’d like to see the Dems take a beating.

What’s a real time comment? I mean when I comment here, it’s in real time, right? Not fake time?

So, if real-time comments are working, mine just popped up on yer screens without having to refresh to look for moar comments. If it didn’t, then it isn’t.
Working, that is.

There does seem to be some lag time where you write a comment in the comment box, it posts in the thread (real time magic!) but still appears in the comment box..

California justice:

Former state Sen. Rod Wright turned himself in to Los Angeles County jail authorities Friday night to begin a 90-day sentence for his perjury and fraud conviction, but was released before ever seeing the inside of a cell.

Wright, a Democrat, turned himself in around 9:30 p.m. and was released at 10:41 p.m. after being processed and booked, said Nicole Nishida, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Wright was convicted of eight felonies, including perjury and voting fraud, for lying about where he lived when he ran for office in 2008.

So that’s about 9 minutes per felony.

Another Gov. Moonbeam, prison-realignment success story. BTW, be sure to vote “Yes!” on Prop. 47 to give even more convicted criminals the “Wright” treatment.
