A friend posted a bit of click-bait on Facebook that purported to show “How one teacher taught her class about privilege”. The teacher places a trash can at the front of the room and tells the students they are to stay in their seats and toss a piece of paper into the trash can. It’s obviously easier for those in the front to succeed than those in the back. One of the first comments was “Now watch all the straight, white, males complain about how inaccurate this is.” There you have it -- present day leftist political discourse. Let’s preemptively shut down any contrary views while pretending to engage in a dialogue.
I see that Ken Takakura has died. I am sad to see this. I have enjoyed his work since seeing The Yakuza 1974 with Robert Mitchum. It is still high on my list of favorites. It is not a great movie but different and interesting with intriguing performances and characters. He reminds me of Jean Reno in The Professional, one of my favorite movies.
The Professionals was a different movie. The Professional was a movie about a hit man who takes care of a 12 year old girl (Natalie Portman) when her family is killed by rogue DEA agents.
I see it’s now called Leon: The Professional A great movie with several fine performances by the leads and by supporting characters.
Apparently there will be an announcement today from the Grand Jury in Ferguson. Hopefully, based on the evidence released so far, they’ll come back with no charges filed. However, with all the pressure put on them, I wouldnt be surprised if some charges are filed against Darren Wilson.

2. With all the news about about flood dangers from from melting snow in NY, I wondered how much water a foot snow equated to. Apparently, there’s a 10:1 ratio of snow to water, so a foot of snow is a bit more than an inch of water.

So if you lie about your social status or your feelings towards a woman in order to bang her, well then CRIME.
On the other hand, if a woman lies about her ability to get pregnant and you bang her and knock her up, well sorry buddy, you’re on the hook for next 18-25 years. Sounds fair to me.
Why they are making this announcement early evening is a mystery to me. Wouldnt it have been better early morning? Announce that you’ll be doing it the night before, let everyone plan on staying home from school or work, and then go for it.

Funny about Obama’s comments on all this; not one mention of Darrell Wilson and what he’s been through; not one mention that he acted lawfully and that Big Mike Brown attacked a police officer after robbing a store and was lawfully shot by that same police officer in self-defense.
There’s nothing to apologize for here; it’s all bullshit with this empathy thing and dialogue and working through our differences. This whole thing is simple: if you don’t want to be killed by the police, don’t attack them. No great NATIONAL DIALOGUE ON RACE needed.
