New Year’s Eve Day greetings from oddly-quiet Larryville, GN!
Hai firsties Sven… and t’anks.
Mrs. A. will (allegedly) be home sometime before Monday, which I look forward to; the levels of sarcasm around here have been sub-optimal the past eight days. 😉
NYPD traffic tickets and summonses for minor offenses have dropped off by a staggering 94 percent following the execution of two cops — as officers feel betrayed by the mayor and fear for their safety, The Post has learned.

Wonder what Times Square’s going to be like tonight with those “heroic sheepdogs” being outright derelict in their duties?

Whoops. Bet that was the last thing DeBlasio considered. I wouldn’t want to be there tonight.
Good morning GN; congrats to Brenda and Fatwa!
Seconded.
Short day for me too, but not because they’re letting us off early, it’s because I’m using vacation time. My employer is notoriously cheap with “free” time off. Evs.
Not much going on here, I’m actually looking forward to starting 2015 on a good note.
Finally, finally, after a half-dozen trigger point injections, and three epidurals, we I’ve found something that worked on my back: Botox®. So far the results are very good, and there’s another week ’til full effect.
Good enough that I can actually look forward to the Auto Show in Detroit, and only worry about what to pack.
Yee-fvckin’-hah.
My wish for 2015 is that we are all strong, healthy, happy and living in good fortune.
Happy New Year’s Eve Day, Gerbil Nation!
Hai, Sven, Fatwa and TeX!
We left the float decorating at about 1:30 this morning -- earlier than normal for us. The float wasn’t quite complete, but there was very little left to be done and plenty of people on hand to complete the remaining tasks. Hopefully the float “reads” well on TV and the parade route. One thing we noticed this year is the smaller scale of the floats and the lower number of them. While the number of floats varies each year, the 37 floats in this year’s parade is much smaller than the up to 60 that have been in past parades. Part of this is due to the recession and part to TV coverage. The networks want the parade to fit into a 2-hr time slot. Companies whose floats were at the end of last year’s parade got no national TV coverage -- the networks cut the broadcast before the parade ended -- so they saw no reason to spend advertising dollars on a float this year.
Dust devil (sans dust) at the Rose Bowl fan fest area earlier today. (H/T Joe Schmoe’s Twitter feed)
They had some pretty amazing localized winds in the SFV last night; got a lot of calls today about carpy old shingles (which should have been replaced years ago) blowing off of condos.
Heh. Firsties on the last day!
Good morning GN; congrats to Brenda and Fatwa!
Cold and windy out here; supposed to get colder still with temps in the 30s the next couple of days.
Short day today at work, so that’s a good thing.

The unionized, immunized, sworn goons of the NYPD are being more than a little petulant:

I wonder if the Occutards will have another carpy non-float this year; remember this one?
I thought being married meant I’d always have a date for New Year’s Eve.
Tarnation.
