I read that several towns are bidding for the honor of building the Barack Obama Presidential Library. That’s one place I can safely and confidently say that I will never visit in my lifetime. Although it would probably be a hoot to go just to see the number of statues, paintings, and photographs of him that will be in there.
Nice to read that DOJ after a couple of years has decided not to file charges against George Zimmerman for killing Trayvon Martin after Martin tried to kill him. Of course when they release their statement, it will be of the “we just don’t have enough evidence to proceed with a case although we all know that Zimmerman is white racist who spent his days looking for an African-American honor student with a bright future ahead of him who was doing nothing so he could kill him” type of thing.
“The death of Trayvon Martin was a devastating tragedy. It shook an entire community, drew the attention of millions across the nation, and sparked a painful but necessary dialogue throughout the country,” said Attorney General Eric Holder. “Though a comprehensive investigation found that the high standard for a federal hate crime prosecution cannot be met under the circumstances here, this young man’s premature death necessitates that we continue the dialogue and be unafraid of confronting the issues and tensions his passing brought to the surface. We, as a nation, must take concrete steps to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.”
Good morning EveryGerbillyBody from the not-quite-freezing SE Central prairie!
I could have sworn I heard ice pellets hitting the tin roof outside not too long ago.

And contrary to Mr. X’s assertions, I most certainly did NOT manifest this weather by simply stating, “Don’t get cocky, winter isn’t done with us yet.”
So there.
Other than it’s only related to the Obummer administration by the weakest of threads, my buddy Bob found some TRULY craptastic writing yesterday a la Pepsi’s new branding campaign (is there a gag-reflex warning?):
“Attraction Theory: The Pepsi Proposition
Establishment of a gravitational pull to shift from a “transactional” experience to an “invitational” expression.”
“The Pepsi Globe Dynamics
Emotive forces shape the gestalt of the brand identity.”
“The Pepsi Ratio
It starts with a circle.”
“The Pepsi ethos has evolved over time. The vocabulary of truth and simplicity is a reoccurring phenomena in the brand’s history. It communicates the brand in a timeless manner and with an expression of clarity. Pepsi BREATHTAKING builds on this knowledge. True innovation always begins by investigating the historic path. Going back-to-the-roots moves the brand forward as it changes the trajectory of the future.”
First, I was agog.
ANYONE in the marketing/ad field who thought that dreck was anything short of awful should be sacked. Post-fvcking-haste.
Although, I may steal some of it at review time.
::snicker::
Snowing here. We just got the driveways cleared of ice yesterday after a couple of days. Don’t know if this will be a problem. There isn’t much so far.
Sorry you’re unseasonably cold, too. But global warmeningclimate chaos!!! (Which is pretty much what one ought to expect from a chaotic system like our atmosphere…)
Hope it doesn’t cause any of you significant hassles.
That horrific Pepsi marketing gobbledygook reminds me of carp from a “soft science” journal or academic paper; I couldn’t agree more with your, erm, recommendation, TeX. 😉

For any of you who thought my remarks yesterday about Chicago PD were over-the-top, I offer the following:
This former commander tortured confessions out of people for decades and got a slap on the wrist. Also cost the taxpayers well over $100M. But nobody saw nothin’. For decades.
Good morning and happy middle of the week greetings.

Humpty greetings from Happy LArryville, GN!
Hai, Sven!
Amazing the DOJ’s been trying to fark-over Zimmerman for all this time, but won’t do anything about, say, Sharpton owing millions in taxes.
As re the Obama library, perhaps they’ll fill it with thousands of copies of his books plus a tract from Moochelle on healthy school lunches.
Also read that Tiny Dancer’s going to be in a runoff for his reelection; the next six weeks will be a windfall for Cook County necromancers. 😉
Teh site’s been balky from my end the past 20 minutes or so; keep getting a “cannot connect to database” message.
Good morning, Fatwa! More rain is on the way!
Same here on DB error.
Glad I’m not being singled-out for a carpy connection. 😉
BBIAB.

For any of you who thought my remarks yesterday about Chicago PD were over-the-top, I offer the following:
Jon Burge, ex-Chicago cop who ran torture ring, released from prison.
This former commander tortured confessions out of people for decades and got a slap on the wrist. Also cost the taxpayers well over $100M. But nobody saw nothin’. For decades.
Officers Allege Widespread Corruption Inside Chicago Police Department.
No shit…it’s been “the Chicago way” forever wherein the cops are concerned.
Happy Wednesday, Gerbil Nation!
Hai, Sven, Mac, Fatwa, and TeX!
I’ve been getting 503 errors this morning -- I blame Pepsi Globe Dynamics.
Just refreshed and things seemed quite speedy here…
[sinistervoice]
…for now.
Eye. Bleach.
Checking out Minteh’s coverage of the ongoing Eugene train wreck, it’s just quite sad. And pathetic.
Thinking about Miss Harper; hope she is well.
Ditto.
I miss our Plague Fairy.
