That is a good haiku.

Good morning, Fatwa.

It might just be me, but some mornings it just feels really good to pee outside off the back porch and then to blow your nose into the nearest patch of weeds.

Heh.

Best to ensure you pee only on your own property, lest the tyrants send men with guns and dogs to arrest you for despoiling public lands.

Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning Sven, Fatwa and Jerry!!!11!!
I take it that it is a bit frigid in Bountiful?

I skimmed through the Calguns decision last night. The judge spent a lot of time on the idea of standing and if the plaintiffs had it. In the end, he decided that since you can still purchase handguns in California, there was no infringement of the 2nd Amendment and the plaintiffs had not suffered any harm (the plaintiff with no right arm could purchase a Glock similar to what he wanted and then have a gunsmith install an ambidextrous safety. ) I wonder if he’d rule the same when no new handguns are offered for sale in CA due to the requirement for micro-stamping?

Hai, Mac!

Yeah, it’s funny how many rights are systematically limited and restricted. I guess “shall not be infringed” doesn’t mean what I always thought it meant. The California state constitution does not have an analogue to the 2nd Amendment, but it does contain an explicit right to self-defense. How are we supposed to exercise that right when the State has consistently denied citizens the right to the tools of self-defense?

I just called my Rep’s local office to ask why she voted to continue funding the DHS (H.J.R. 35) on a short-term basis. The young male who answered the phone had to put me on hold, then asked if he could call me back. Being a reasonable person, I said that would be fine. I’ll let all y’all know what happens.

Addendum(b): I still haven’t gotten a response from the two emails I sent to her office earlier this year -- no surprise there.

I actually got a response! Once the communications director put together a statement and talking points, he sent them to the local office and the young man there shared these with me (DHS is an important component of our national security, which is why she voted to fund it, etc.). I called him out on this nonsense in a very polite way, educated him on reality, and asked him to pass my comments up the chain. I know it won’t do a whit of good, but there you have it.
