Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Happy Caturday, GN!

Nice to “see” TeX stop by.

Was planning to cut up some small-ish limbs which fell in the backyard courtesy of the ice storm last month, but my lower back’s a little twinge-y right now so I’ma have to play that by ear.

D’oh…stupid stress!

Happy Caturday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa and Sven!

I see Jerry sent Mac one of his pictures to use on the thread.

Sorry about your back, Fatwa. Getting older sucks.

Hai, Paddy and Sven!

The back thing’s something I’ve had to deal with occasionally for about 35 years; it’s stress-related from clenching muscles all over my body and causing spasms. When the spasms get really bad, they either manifest in my right lower back or right knee.

On the plus side, it’s like doing isometric exercises in that it actually provide non-trivial benefits re muscle tone. (Seriously.)

When I lived in L.A., my doc would happily re-up my prescription for thirty 10mg Diazepams about once a year via phone. I’d generally break ’em in half, take a 5mg dose a couple of times daily for a day or two and break the cycle.

Alas, most docs have to be extremely careful about that sort of thing these days, given overzealous prosecutors and the damned DEA.

This represents a far worse problem for folks with chronic pain and their docs. (Which causes me to wish that those prosecutors and DEA tools someday find themselves in screaming chronic agony and utterly unable to get the medications they need due to their own actions and policies. I am a Bad Gerbil. Also a fan of ironic punishment.)

And sorry too about your back, Fatwa. Rest and ice.
