Yesterday, BW and I made went to Lowe’s for some supplies & also to the pool store again. It seems that we are going to buy their entire inventory, one piece at a time.
I know nothing about the pool and do not care to learn. It seems there are three main parts to the pool. The pump at the side of TCM, the hole in the cement with the basket-thing, and the pool sweep. BW’s family insists on calling the sweep “the pisser”. And indeed it is. Not included are the witches’ brew of chemicals, potions, charms and spells to keep the water clear.
So BW spends her day struggling with the pool & I stay inside & struggle with the rest of the house.
Oh! Yesterday, we bought my new favorite toy. It is a hand truck, or dolly. Sure, I could have used it a week ago. It’s just not anything that I would have thought about having. But now I see that I could have saved my back a lot of wear & tear. I got the same kind that Good Nephew rented with the lift truck last week. Like I really need one that holds 800 lbs! The 300 lb. one just looked too puny. So I was wheelin’ a couple of heavy bedside tables and mirrors out with ease yesterday.
The only furniture left inside the house: a sofa, a loveseat, a sof-sleeper (yikes!), an oversized big screen tv, a long heavy dresser, and a long, heavy bookcase headboard. I don’t think BW can get all that out, even with the dolly. We need a man, not a dolly. Ha!
The garage has about 7 box springs & mattresses, too big for my truck. And a kitchen table with six chairs. We may have to call Sanford & Son to clear it out. None of the furniture is worth The Salvation Army truck’s time. They don’t want ripped furniture. Supposedly, the bedroom furniture will get picked up by some relative of ZS’ friend.
The yard guy finished up (for the most part) yesterday. All the jungle has been taken out, along with a whole tree that was too close to the house. It hasn’t been this clear in 20 years! You can now actually see the old landscape stones & ground lights. It makes you want to cry, just looking at it.
Looks like we are going to miss the summer selling season for houses. Luckily, our area is hot, hot , hot for real estate. So maybe we can get someone to paint it & sell it before the dollar is “reset”.

And on that “cheery” note, I’ll wish y’all a Jerrific Day while I head out for more coffee and a BC powder!

Hai, hard-working RabBeet (and BW)!

I know from experience that getting pool chemistry right is a bit of a learning curve; ditto the equipment. (Learned a lot about that, along with back-flushing filters, adding diatomaceous earth, etc. many years ago.)

You two remain in our thoughts. Hope that you can get the remaining carp cleared out of TCM, get it all gussied-up and do well on the sale.

Also, robust hand trucks are a goodness. 🙂

“Extreme far-right” gay pride parade in Stockholm, Sweden scheduled for 07/29; plan to march through predominantly Muslim neighborhoods.

The Facebook page is absolutely filled with angry comments from leftists, attacking the “xenophobic right-wing nationalists” for organizing a gay pride parade through Muslim areas. Since Islam holds that gays should be executed, something like this is obviously an attack on Muslims and should therefore be outlawed. At least, that’s what Swedish leftists – and, indeed, Swedish gays – are saying.

Leftists are organizing a counter-demonstration against this gay pride parade. Yes, really.

Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, RaBbiT and Fatwa!

RabBiT -- a decent hand truck can, indeed, be a back-saver! Pool chemistry can be calculated, if you have all the necessary data, but in reality it’s test, add chemicals, test, add chemicals, etc. Here’s hoping y’all can get TCM on the market pronto!

Fatwa -- as a follow-on to your gay-Swedish-right-pride-wing story:
Maybe complete and total inclusivity isn’t as easy as it sounds.

The organizers of Free Pride Glasgow in Scotland have hit a snag in their mission to plan a totally inclusive event: Some activists think drag queens are offensive to transgender people, others think banning drag queens is offensive to transgender drag queens, and still others think allowing only transgender drag queens is offensive to cisgender drag queens.

Free Pride Glasgow’s attempt at making sure the event was completely free of anything offensive wound up offending some people so much that they’re calling on everyone to boycott it altogether.

Hi, Paddy!

Saw something about the Glasgow foolishness yesterday. Buwahahahahaha!

I wonder if it’s worth pitching a reality show called “Network Battle Of The Grievance Groups”?

I’m not a football guy; just posting this link in case it’s of interest.

Today was a much-needed day off from TCM.
Really, I just ate and napped all day.
I think we may have chosen a painter. Looking at their website, they posted pictures of repaired walls from wheelchair scrapes.
BW was going to put in a request, but the site froze.
Anyway we will call them in the morning.
Back to bed for me.
Why, I have been awake 5 hours. Ha!
