A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
I got a call from Mehdi teh Junk Guy yesterday letting me know he’s finished at my folks’ house. Teh Older and I will drop by after church to check it out. We’d agreed on a price of $300, but he said with all the trips to the dump he really should have charged me $525, but I can just pay what we’d agreed to. I must think on this.

G’day GN and Paddy!

I must think on this.

That’s certainly a dilemma but I’m confident that however you choose to resolve it, you’ll be as fair to both parties as possible, based on what you know.

There’s a conservative site that I read regularly that recently had this post:

Why Do I Support Donald Trump?….
… because he says: “Make America Great Again”! And when Trump says that I hear:
Someone who gives a damn about America, without apology; which is more valuable to me than a perfected highly-rehearsed skill set of 30-second sound bites and white paper policy instructions.

The rest of the post provides examples of American exceptionalism —none of which I disagree with, but very little about Trump. This site supports Trump, and not just supports him, but has gone all in with him because he isn’t the typical Republican. Because he has a swagger. Because he says some of the things that Conservatives have been saying for the last ten years.

This is a site that I’ve read for years, that I respect, that has done great investigative reporting, that lives by the motto that “the truth has no agenda.” It’s not a Republican site; it’s a hardcore Tea Party-Conservative place, and yet they have apparently abandoned their principles and backed Trump for a slogan and a swagger.

I don’t get it. I don’t get the branding as heretics of anyone that questions Trump as a candidate. It seems to all too closely resemble the Obamamania that went on 8 years ago…and despite all the racial healing that’s gone on, how did the rest of his presidency turn out?

I can appreciate the energy and entertainment value that Trump brings to the Republican primaries, but I’ll never vote for him.

We are home early. Borrego Springs Resort and Spa wasn’t quite what their website promised. “an oasis of luxury nestled between the Anza-Borrego Desert and the foothills of the Santa Rosa Mountains.” The room was just ok and it did have little funky smell and there was just one family pool..and when I say family, I’m talkin’ one huge family reunion with about 30 screaming kids and all parents drank a lot of tequila and fireball..A LOT. they were doing shots in the pool and it was quickly getting out of hand..I think those vatos were playing Quines Mas Macho. yeah.. that’s how it was. We spent about 1 hour on the far side of the pool trying to avoid the cannonballs but there was just no way! I don’t think I saw any of them leave the pool area to pee, if ya know what I’m sayin’. So we checked out early, got them to not charge us for the 2nd night and even got a $20 discount for our misery. As the old saying goes, You get what you pay for! We drove home after breakfast and through the mountains we saw a real life wild bobcat crossing the road right in front of us! We slowed way down and got a good look at it before he scampered off. So, all was not bad. We did do a bit of nighttime hiking over at the state park and the weather was lovely! A bit of cloud cover with a cool breeze and lastly, Julian apple pie with cinnamon ice cream is still the bomb!

There is a picture on Expedia of a beautiful, serene pool with massage tables set up. This is NOT the pool. Not even close! I don’t know where they got that picture, but it was definitely not the same pool. It wasn’t even the same shape. We drove all the way around looking for this “oasis” pool and it wasnt there.

Greetings all!
Paddy, the agreed on price was 300 & now he is hinting about 525? Well, if you are generous, split the difference and give him another $112.50. But, that wasn’t what he agreed to charge. He should have judged his load better. But I know you are a kind person and that is why you are thinking on this. If it were me, I would give him the $300 a $50 tip. ( But then, I am the person that was so grateful to St. Paul for hauling our stuff away for free that I gave him $20 cash!)

TMP now has 182 views on Zillow. 3 favorites. We had two different calls today from the listing service asking permission to show it. I’m hoping that trend continues this week. BW is up & down emotionally, as you would expect.

Worthless Grandson, a.k.a Mama’s Boy called earlier (collect of course). He said he didn’t have any money and needed to buy “cough syrup”. Said he was sick and signed up to see the doctor, “but it takes a week”. BW passed the message on to ZS, who immediately got all hysterical & crying. She called Sis, who wouldn’t answer the phone & then called us back. BW told her to call her other kids. Good Nephew was at work, on the phone with his dad when ZS called twice. He didn’t pick up, but called us instead. When BW told him what was going on, he said, “I’ve been working seven days a week with the crud. He probably wants a Snickers bar. If he wants to see a doctor, he needs to throw himself on the floor and act like he’s dying!” Ha!

So he called ZS back & I guess told her no, ’cause she called back saying GN was furious. BW told her to calm down, there was nothing to be done about it. Because of course, she “doesn’t have any money until I can go to the bank tomorrow”. Which is a bank holiday. And last week it was “My check came late, I don’t have any money”. Pure BS. Gov’t checks are rarely late-and come early before holidays. So if she wants to get all dramatic & shoot her BP up, well, we aren’t playing.

BW sent the link of the house video to Good Neice. She texted back that we have done a wonderful job on the house & the video made her cry. Which made BW cry. Because really, the only ones that have shown any emotion about TM have been Good Nephew and Niece.

On a whim the other day, I bought a purple cabbage at the Farmer’s Market. We have been eating purple coleslaw for a couple of days. I’ve never made that before. I grilled some steak, so I have fulfilled my Holiday duties early. Ha
