It’s rather surprising that we are being proactive out here, Fatwa, instead of waiting for disaster to hit and then wailing about it.
Worked the weekend again, but I get next weekend off! And then Mrs Sven is heading out to the midwest on business again, not this week but next, so little Sven will be on his own. Sniff.
While Jim teh Roofer’s company is busier than at this time for the past several years, I’m looking forward to the first big soak; i.e., 36-48 hours of heavy rain.
A lot of my clients know they have roofing work they’ve put off for the last few years which needs doing. But many of them -- like condo HOAs and large businesses -- have very slow decision-making processes…until something relatively disastrous occurs.
And they seem to have a poor understanding of the laws of supply and demand.
Good morning, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven and Fatwa!
The predicted cooler weather keeps getting pushed back, day-by-day. A few days ago, today was supposed to be 86°F, now they’re predicting 97 (yesterday was 1007deg;F). We might get some rain next weekend -- not Fatwa’s desired 36-48 hours, but maybe some.
I’ve got a phone interview late this afternoon (or possibly tomorrow afternoon) for a tech support position at the high school my kids went to. I haven’t the slightest idea what the pay would be, but at this point, I really don’t care.
Oh! I got a message on skype from one of my former cow-workers. He said he missed working with me and it was “unfortunate what happened” to me, but that he was “still my buddy”. Unfortunate? Really?
Gotta keep those guilds alive and exclusive, otherwise the prices might drop (and there wouldn’t be a need for the state Board of Cosmetology). Besides, how many hours of training does it take to empty a magazine at an unarmed suspect -- missing most shots?
Good morning and thank God that hideous orange display is gone.
For Fatwa: http://www.dailynews.com/business/20151011/how-el-nino-is-big-business-for-roofing-companies
Monday gaaaaaaaah!reetings, GN!
Hai, Sven…thanks for the linky. People in SoCal are indeed taking the weather-guessers’ predictions re El Niño seriously.
Coffee?

Hai, Paddy --
Sending good thoughts re your interview.
Also sending not-so-good thoughts to your “buddy”.
This looks like a swell new Wii game:
I don’t understand why not delivering mail honors Columbus.
Delivering it to the wrong continent would, ‘tho. 🙂
Things which make me go “WTF?!?!”:
Just learned that in Georgia, a cosmetology license requires 1500 hours of training and a 3000 hour apprenticeship.
But you can be a cop with only 408 hours of training.
Gotta keep those guilds alive and exclusive, otherwise the prices might drop (and there wouldn’t be a need for the state Board of Cosmetology). Besides, how many hours of training does it take to empty a magazine at an unarmed suspect -- missing most shots?
Not to mention the very expensive schools to satisfy the requirements of same.
Let’s be fair: they also have to learn how to beat mentally ill people to death, Tase stroke victims and the all-important testilying.
And dog-shooting.
Hellooooooow!
Ive got good news to report all around…
