Yes, the thread video is making me a little queasy.

Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Humpity Day salutations, GN!

Hai, Sven!

Glad the recursive drawers in Mac’s thread GIF aren’t Teh Hoff’s. (Which would have made many of us queasy.) 😉

Hi Fatwa,

I picked this up from AoS:

http://www.dallasnews.com/opinion/latest-columns/20151028-dorothy-bland-i-was-caught-walking-while-black.ece

Reading the woman’s account and then watching the video of the actual encounter…amazing.

And off to work. Sheesh, I should only have to do this for like another 15 years and then I can take a break!

Good and safe day to all.

Happity Humpity Day, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven teh First, and Fatwa!

Teh Hoff’s drawers? shudder

I watched that video yesterday. For a Dean of Journalism she isn’t a very good reporter -- she got all of the important facts wrong.

Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Hai, Paddy!

Just watched the video; read about this incident few days ago. I think that:

1) The dean’s an idiot for walking on the wrong side of the road with earbuds. (Thus making her oblivious to any sound it might be in her best interests to be aware of, which I find to be stupidly dangerous on her part.)

2) I also think it’s BS that the cops ran her ID just for their damned report.

3) While I don’t blame any citizen for being wary of interaction with the police, I think the dean has overreacted to this situation.

4) Absent walls and/or guards, any American ought to be able to walk along any damned public road they please without being rousted by what amounts to “deine papieren, bitte”.

Here in GA, one must ID themselves to law enforcement upon request (i.e., no suspicion of criminal activity being necessary), which I also think is BS.

Good morning!
Thunder and lightning, very exciting!
But not for poor Cali. I thought she was going to have a heart attack. That little furball had a terrible case of the tremors. She was a real ‘Cali’fornia earthquake all night long. I had to bring her to bed with me and hold her tight whispering her favorite words over and over to calm her down…walk.. treat…ride…beach. She was ok this morning and the rain stopped enough to get her a good run outside. Hopefully the lightning is over for the day as she is all alone at home now.

I watched that video and have to agree with Fatwa. The real story wasnt nearly exciting enough for her to tell, so she embellished it. Now she is paying the price for her lie by being the laughing stock of the innertoobs. Karma rocks!

Mac,
I cant help ya as I know nothing of macs or are much into video games, but I do remember that snowball one. I actually played it a couple of times!

Hi, Mac!
Your niece should be able to open the .swf file by dragging it to her browser.

Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Drive-by:

Hai, Cali and Mac!

Mac --

Your niece should be able to play the game, assuming she’s got Shockwave installed. (I don’t use it much but seem to recall reading there are issues with it and either some versions of Safari and/or the Mac OS.)

In the event of problems, this app might be helpful:

Please note that I have not used it and therefore can’t express an opinion.

On a sorta-related note: FWIW, Both SackO’SugarK and I have found that Waterfox is an excellent browser. We were both having various PITAs with Firefox. (Even after clearing caches, cookies, etc.) After installing Waterfox, on my system, they all went away and WF seamlessly uses all of my Firefox bookmarks, plug-ins and whatnot.

Five students were stabbed on the campus of UC Merced this morning. Three were treated on campus, while the other two were airlifted to a hospital. The attacker has been shot and killed by police.
Cue the call for more gun control in 3…2…1…

Mass stabbing. On a school campus. Barely makes the news. Now if a gun had been involved…

As far as the Dean of Journalism goes, I’m not sure which is worse: 1) That she fabricated the entire incident so she could get her black grievance credentials, or 2) that that was the way she really perceived it all happening.

It was beyond an overreaction; it was a complete fabrication of the events, whether intentional for personal gain or the result of some weird psychological or cultural bias.
