I really haven’t been following the Apple encryption story closely. But if the government does want Apple to build a backdoor into iOS, I’m glad that the company is -- at least publicly -- saying “hell no!”
As re John McAfee’s offer, I suspect it’s largely driven by his seeking the Libertarian Party’s nomination and that he’s looking for some publicity. Don’t know enough to assess what his chances of actually cracking the phone in question might be.
Since McAfee’s a bit of a nut, I’m hoping he doesn’t get the LP’s nomination; former two-term NM governor Gary Johnson’s running again and I find him to be a far more credible candidate. (Not that he’d have any real chance, but he’d furnish significantly better PR in re helping to “mainstream” the LP….which is something I’d like to see.)

Finally, FINALLY we are set to close on TMP at 3:30 today!!!!!!!!!! Unless we get hit by SMOD on the way there.

Years ago, when BW & I were on our way to close on Teh Rabbit Hutch, a guy ran a redlight and totaled her car! I was turning left, uphill onto a freeway bridge and could not see the traffic. This Nigerian guy had done the same thing less than a month before. He hit us between the bumper & front driver side tire. We still limped it along to the closing. I didn’t go seek medical help until the next day (neck & back pain).
Yesterday was terrible for me. I was at the grocery store & started getting feeling clammy & sick. I made it out of there& drove home & as soon as I got inside, I headed for the bathroom & threw up. BW thought I was having a heart attack. Ha! No, it was just one of those migranes that make ya puke. I stayed in bed the rest of the afternoon. But recovered (pretty much) by evening.
So, hopefully today we can get Sis & ZS to the title office without too much drama…

We had an uneventful trip (aside from the rental car cluster-flop) and the weather is beautiful. We had a late dinner with Teh Younger, then met some of his suite-mates and saw his pictures from Cuba. We’re going to listen to a lecture by Elie Wiesel this morning, then figure out the rest of the weekend.
Cool, Paddy: sounds like a great trip so far with things only getting better.

Hi Fatwa: re: Apple, I’m happy to see a liberal-oriented (or should that be “liberal-asian”?) corporation on the “wrong” side of the safety vs. liberty argument. Normally it’s gun owners and the NRA.
