I’m curious to know what the hell the RNC was thinking in letting Trump even get into the contest. “Win at any cost” doesn’t make sense, since I don’t believe they’re stupid enough not to have known who and what he is. (Although that is a possibility, given the loxes like Dole and McCain they’ve promoted.)
Perhaps it was a belief that Trump’s so bad he’d make ¡Jeb! look palatable by comparison. 🙂
Whatever the reason, they done screwed teh pooch.

Mornin’ greetin’s all.
Yesterday we gathered Sis & ZS and gave them copies of the expense report for settling the estate. (I did make them write “I agree with this settlement” sign & date it). Then we gave them each a check. So that part is done. We still have a few checks to write to close out accounts, but the major headache is OVER!
I also hauled a bike & office chair that I was storing for Worthless Grandson over to ZS’ apt. So as far as I’m concerned, I never have to see him again. Yay!
This morning, we have to go to the dentist to have BW’s stiches removed.
Debates? What debates? I have watched them all & am beyond tired of it. I quit watching “wrasslin'” as a child & hate the way they are run now. Whatever happened to the nonbiased League of Women Voter guides ? Identical questions for all candidates? I guess that went the way of newspapers and buggy whips. I hate politics these days.
On the bright side- warm, sunny ,and open windows! After the traditional Easter cold snap, we should be home free for warm weather! Er, then it is tornado season. Ha!
I don’t see any way out for the GOP regarding Trump either, Fatwa. They can maybe stop him from winning the nomination or becoming president, but they can’t win the presidency if they do. It’s looking more and more like Hillary (Fighting for us!) or Trump (It will be yuge!), so choose your poison.
Congratters on having gotten through the the bulk of settling TM’s estate. (And being done dealing with ZS and WG.)
Hope BW’s trip to teh dentist goes well…and that she doesn’t ouch too much afterwards.

I’m hoping Gary Johnson -- former successful two-term Republican governor of New Mexico -- gets the LP nomination. (Not that he’s got a snowball’s chance, but I can keep my conscience clean by voting for a guy who actually reduced the size and scope of government in NM.)

RabBiT -- I’m glad you and BW are able to close things out and extricate yourselves from the toxic family dynamics.
TeX -- your story demonstrates the toxic nature of power and how ill-suited the political class is to wield it.
Fatwa -- while I know that voting for Gary Johnson is, in many ways, a throw-away vote, I’m done with the “if you don’t vote for the Establishment candidate we selected for you, you’re voting for the opposition” argument. Voting for X is surely better than ending up with Y has failed to improve the lot of the citizenry and has only encouraged the GOP to maintain the status quo.
Ha! I’m going to throw a wrench in the works -- add a little “resolution” from my poorly-attended Precinct Convention: ENOUGH with the social issues.
If it’s been adjudicated Federally, leave it.
If not, leave it to the States.
Anything else, STFU and STFD, we’ve heard the opinions ad infinitum.

I find it vexing that so many people who self-identify as “conservative” make a big deal about adherence to the Constitution…until they realize that document permits stuff they don’t personally approve of.
At which point, too many of them are inclined to lobby for legislation which will result in men with guns and dogs using force to prevent folks from engaging in unapproved activities.
For instance: I doubt many of them would have the stomach to break down the door of someone peaceably doing a couple of bong rips in the privacy of their own home and shoot them in cold blood.
But they’re quite happy to let yoonyun goons with badges do it for them…while they get to keep their own hands clean and feel virtuous.
Watched some of the Republican debate tonight. Donal Trump is every liberal that I’ve ever had a discussion with: talks over you, lies, makes shit up out of thin air, changes the subject, and then resorts to insults.
Sadly, none of his opponents on stage can handle him. I can’t understand, for instance, when Trump says that 96% or 95% or a gazillion% of the students at Trump University wrote wonderful report cards on his course, that no one says will you turn all those over so we can see them and judge for ourselves?

I am, of course, concerned about the SCOTUS vacancy, too.
That Hillary’s nominee(s) will be awful is a given. But just ponder for a moment a Trump nomination.
