As always, your Thread Lad diligence is much appreciated. And if you need a break, just let us know.
Hope you had a quiet night.

I don’t know if Ex-Lax is sufficient to the task, given that Il Douchey is so very full of shite.
Horrible events in Dallas last night; I expect it’s going to be a bad summer across the country. (Especially given that too many gummint officials seem to be trying to incite things.)
With both parties’ conventions looking to be rancorous, plus the nastiness of too many supporters of various candidates, I believe both Cleveland and Philly are going to be a mess inside and outside of their respective convention halls.
(Word from credible sources in Cleveland is that their public safety preparations are probably woefully inadequate for the current political climate.)
It’s a pleasure, Sir. I am so grateful to Jerry for hosting Teh Wheel. I am honored to do a small part. It feels like it keeps a connection with the old gang.
This family has been such an important part of my life, and that becomes ever more precious to me as I feel myself rolling down hill toward the end. I can not tell you how much you all mean to me, especially our small remaining group. I wish I could.
And I did indeed have a good night. Had a little more pain yesterday as it seems some remnants were dealt with but nothing serious and after a nap after dinner I felt good. I am just surprised how exhausted I feel after the slightest activity, but that should improve. Thanks for all the Gerbil concern, good wishes, and good advice.
Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Mac!
Mac -- I’m glad you’re feeling better. Hopefully, the worst has passed (yeah, I know). I also hope Elena is doing well with her recovery and rehabilitation. I know it can be a long and painful journey, but the more effort you put in, the better the results.
Y’all are a good bunch of Gerbils and good friends and I feel honored and privileged to have met you.
Long time no see, EveryGerbillyBody!
I may have been absent, but y’all weren’t far from my thoughts on any given day.
I hope everyone is well, or getting well (Mac).
It’s been a crazy couple of months with work, health issues, a vacation, and the Storm of 2016.
BUT the good news is, I *finally* found out what’s the cause of the debilitating back pain: an ulcer. Treating that has brought tremendous relief.
I’m almost back to norml.
I’ll get full confirmation in August with the SuperFun camera tests.
::shudder::
Stepping out onto the screenporch this morning, I heard the first words about Dallas. Jeebus.
I knew immediately what the motive was, and I agree Fatwa, it’s going to be a long, hot summer. And I’ve been saying since January that it’s ’68 all over again.
What a farking mess.
An ulcer? I never would have guessed that was the cause of your back pain. I’m glad it’s getting treated and that you are getting back to normal. I hope Mr. TeX is doing well, also.
In re the horrifying events in Dallas -- I just read that one suspect, who barricaded himself in a parking garage was killed by police. They blew him up.
One suspect died just before 3:00 a.m. on Friday after an hours-long standoff with police. Authorities cornered that suspect in the parking garage of El Centro College and tried to negotiate with him. However, the communications broke down and police were left with few options that were safe.
Police sent a bomb robot in with an explosive device, and detonated it near the suspect. βThe suspect is deceased as a result of detonating the bomb,β Brown said.
I’m glad they got the guy and I have no problem with the swift application of justice, but I do have a problem with police using explosives to take out suspects.
Hai, Mac, Paddy and, um, the name seems familiar; gimme a minute…don’t tell me…TeX!!1! π
Mac --
So glad to read you’re doing better; hope you’re on a roll after the past few months. (Elena, too.)
TeX --
That’s totally awesome you’ve found the cause of your back pain and are successfully treating it. Hope Mr. X is doing well, too.
And to join teh chorus, all of you are “family” in the ways that really count. (Not to mention GoodWifeK…) Too bad we’re so geographically spread-out, ‘tho.
OTOH, in the case of a #Texit… π
Paddy --
I largely agree with you, but the Dallas police had to make do with the tools they had at hand.
But I bet somebody will be marketing robots like this one to LE agencies soon…if they’re not already.
Not particularly comfortable with that, given my very mixed feeling about LEOs, but it’s probably inevitable. (Sadly, it will probably be over-used as are SWAT teams.)
TGIF, GN!

That’s good news, X! And lovely to see you here so you could class up the joint!
Well, one more thing to add to the LEO arsenal: bombs. I had the same reaction as you guys when I first heard that this morning .
Hai, Sven!
I hear that when Micah Xavier Johnson got ‘sploded, he had his hands in the air.
About thirty feet.
What…too soon?
The little BLM shits here in ATL are in a standoff with cops and the GA State Patrol; they’re trying to get onto a freeway downtown.
ATL ought to hire that Hungarian semi-driver from Calais to deal with them. πΏ
I wonder if he was wearing a hoodie and said “I can’t breathe.”
Ah yes, God’s c**k! His commentary would be epic.
Uncle Ted. He had much to say last night about Texas and California.
No better song than Stranglehold especially done live. At 68, the guy still kicks.
Unexpected company coming into town and spending the night, but God bless, Mac. More tomorrow, and good night to all GN!
