Happy Monday, Wheelizens!

Not so sure that 9/8 is all that difficult; nonetheless…

Coffee?

Good morning, GN and hi, Fatwa!

First day of school in our area--traffic is going to be a bear. Darn kids…

Hai, Sven!

We went through that last week.

In addition to myriad buses interfering with SackO’SugarK’s commute, our driveway is a bus stop for at least two schools. (Which dates back to when FTR was a little girl.)

And some little POS throws the remains of his/her after-school snack on our lawn (But I haven’t caught any of the little urchins treading upon it…yet.)

Good morning, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!

In re 9/8 -- 1,2,3-1,2,3-1,2,3 or 1 and a 2 and a 3 and a -- nope, don’t see what the problem is, either.

One school district in our neighborhood starts today, the other starts on the 25th. Some others in our county started last week, while others don’t start until after Labor Day.

Roof tear-off began this morning at Casa du O’Furnijur. The cat is really not sure what to make of it all.

Happy Monday! Just got back from a quick family road trip to see my mom for her 80th bday. It was a surprise party and all my family showed up. Very special. We crammed 5 people into a rental Kia Optima (not comfortable) and headed 6 hours to Havasu to stay at Sis in Law’s vacay house. Havasu was a lovely 110 degrees when we arrived. We opened the house and it wasnt much cooler inside. The air conditioner was broken!! Oh noes!!! We tried everything to reset the dang thing. Good thing they have a pool so we dragged the mattresses outside, drank enough beer to pass out and slept in our wet bathing suits by the pool. My son and his girlfriend spent the night in the garage on top of a boat in front of a swamp cooler. Needless to say, we were all very tired for Saturday with my mom in Kingman. Thankfully we got a call from the HVAC guy saying it was all fixed! Yay! The house was nice and cool when we returned Sat night so we finally got a good nights sleep. It was 116 on the drive home yesterday but that uncomfortable Kia at least had a good air conditioner.
Back to the grind this morning..so so tired.

Hai, Paddy, Cali and Mac!

Nice that you had a surprise 80th for your Mom…and survived the night without AC.

What kind of roof are you installing?

What kind of roof are you installing?

We thought we’d go with one that covered the house -- just to be different.

We’re stripping off two layers -- the original wood shingles, plus a layer of composition shingles. We’re having the contractor remove the existing battens, put down radiant barrier OSB (actually more of an emissive barrier than a radiant one), then CertainTeed Presidential fiberglass shingles. We’re also increasing the amount of eaves venting (woefully inadequate).
