Brief report from Trump rally at U of Akron last night:
Security was on the case; kept protesters at a good distance from the venue, including as attendees were leaving.
Best Man said that the new campaign manager seems to be keeping him on a tight leash re his presentation and that he “did a good job in regard to people who are already inclined to vote for him”.
Based on random interactions with other attendees, his take was that about 50% of the folks there were not very enthusiastic about Trump but really dislike Hillary. Best Man said the general mood of the crowd seemed to be modestly upbeat but pissed-off about what goes on inside the Beltway.
Guiliani was one of two warm-up acts who “talked a lot of trash but was effective”. The other tummler was some GOP politician with whom Best Man was not familiar and didn’t catch his name.
August 10 years ago was a busy time at DHD. Numerous posts and over a thousand comments. Sulla said on one: “I’m voting for fatwa’s “scary little frischmas.” It’s got a beat and you can hum along. Solid meter, and just plain fun. I can almost hear Billie Holliday crooning by a crackling fire, roasting chestnuts.”
Just got off the phone with Best Man; I typed my review as he was talking about it. (Before we got off on various tangents as we generally do while speaking.)
Hope you have a good day at Teh Bestest Place Evar.
Happy Tuesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Fatwa -- thanks for the after-action report. I’m glad the popo were proactive and kept the usual suspects from acting in their usual fashion.
I’m surprised no one has commented on the new look and format of Teh Wheel. Maybe you have to refresh to see it. Interesting.
Still don’t have email at work. I submitted three different trouble tickets to IT because they kept closing them without fixing the issue or actually reading the trouble ticket in the first place. The wording on the tickets got progressively stronger, which may be why the third one is still open.
Ol’ Jerry goes in for an echocardiogram tomorrow. Seems that my murmur has gotten louder over the last two years. I thought I heard voices. My doc says I have a very impressive stenosis going on! Take that Mac!
I hope it is not something serious, Jerry. I had the echocardiogram, in June and the Treadmill echo stress test in July. He wants to go for the angiogram because of partial blockages but that will have to wait until next year when Medicare kicks in. I am doing well and have started a limited routine on the treadmill. It makes my heart doc a little nervous but it really helps with the blood sugar and it is helping me with stamina.
Please let us know how you are doing and what the test shows.
Happy Leaping Cat Tuesday, GN!

Nothing else I deemed noteworthy to pass on. š

Good times.
Thanks, Fatwa. I’d like to vote for Trump as I’m in the really really really hate Hillary! camp, but just not there.
Hai, Sven!

WTF??!?
O, hai, Jerry!
I rather like this new format.
How are things in Bountiful?
Happy Tuesday, Gerbil Nation!

Howdy Fatwa and Paddy, bye Sven.
Hey, Jerry! It’s good to see you! How is life in beautiful Bountiful? Any home projects in the works?
Paddy! Sorry to hear about your access problems. Perhaps a contribution to the Clinton Foundation will get you access -- it does for everyone else.
Good idea! Maybe I can get a grant from one of the Soros foundations to fund the contribution.
Heya, Paddy!
Ahem. š
Happy to share Best Man’s impressions of teh rally; he’s no Trumpalo but tried to be fair.
Yeah, well, I kept getting interrupted while typing that post, so I didn’t see your comment.
Hey Fatwa. Things in Bountiful would be just Peachy, except the squirrels ate every one. How are things in Happy Larryville?

Prayers for good results from the echocardiogram. Let’s hope that stenosis can be taken care of easily. As Mac said, let us know how things go.
Jerry --
Thanks for asking. Things on the Larryville front are maintaining, which beats most of the alternatives. š
Oh dear. I hope they’re not saying things like “Smite the unbelievers!” or “I am the great and powerful Oz!” (I also hope it’s not serious.)
Huh. Change I can believe in. New shavings and all--thanks!
