ATLANTA -- Metro Atlanta is facing a gang problem that’s grown larger than ever before.
Gang members are involved in more than 50 percent of the violent crime in Atlanta, says Jim Hurley, the supervisor for the Atlanta Safe Streets Gang Task Force.
“We’re looking at an excess of 40,000 gang members,” Hurley told Channel 2 Investigative Reporter Mark Winne.
Through our investigation, we learned gang recruitment is at an all-time high.
“Traditionally, people didn’t want to know we had gangs. It’s not good for property values. Politicians didn’t want to admit it. Law enforcement didn’t want to admit it,” Hurley said. “But that’s a changing trend.”
Yeah…let’s just ignore a fookin’ serious problem because it might make us look bad. Never mind that ignoring increased robberies, car jackings, shootings and murders make us look even worse.

At the speed that vehicle was traveling, that girl should have been a mangled hunk of raw meat. She doesn’t look too bad off and hopefully she’ll be OK. I wonder if she was even hit by the car or just got knocked down by someone trying to get out of the way.
There’s longer videos out there that show the police not acting all that concerned, the girl moving her legs, no evidence of blood, and even though she was wearing shorts there’s no visible damage to her legs.

Nonetheless, I’ve got no problem with drivers taking these PLSs out. (And, because I’m a Bad Gerbil, suing them or their estate / family for any damage the driver’s insurance company doesn’t cover. Including deductibles.)
Just went down to Snellville (next town south) and hit Lowe’s, Home Depot, Walmart and Sam’s Club -- which are all on a 1/2 mile stretch of road -- to look for a silent convection heater. (No scary giant “toaster element”, just fins inside the case which get warm and a thermostat; no fan needed.) Had one made by Lasko when I lived in L.A. and it was great and cheap to run.
None of those stores stock them so when I got home, I ordered one online from Home Depot (as they were cheaper than Lowe’s). I know Brenda would have preferred a white one, but the black one was almost 20% less for the same model (guessing they’re overstocked).
And the closing is priceless:
