Ouch. I bet that hurt.

Good morning GN and Happy Monday!

Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

It’s yet another Monday; teh yay!

Glad that things have cooled-down somewhat in SoCal; know it was rough on Jim the Roofer’s crew toward the end of last week.

I got nothin’ else right now…

Happy Monday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and Fatwa!

Yesterday was supposed to be cooler, but it wasn’t. However, not having the doors, garage, etc. open allowed us to keep the house cooler. Exterior painting should begin today -- the prep-work was done last week. Yeah, I could do it myself, but I know how much work it is -- especially all the cut-in.

Hai, Paddy!

In addition to the cut-in, there’s all teh trim, too. Glad you’re able to pay others to do that work.

What made you jump into the whole house remodel effort, Paddy?

We did some work on the house when we moved in, 26 years ago -- paint, inside and out, new stove and dishwasher, new counter-tops, two new sliding doors. In the intervening years, we’ve installed hardwood floors and removed most of the concrete from the backyard. The builder-basic cabinets, now 46 years old -- were painted a long while back to give them extra life, but the particle board shelves and bottoms were failing. The roof was about at the end of its life, and the original, aluminum-framed windows were sorely in need of replacing. It was also time to re-paint the exterior, after 26 years (I guess I did a good job of painting, back then). Several years after my father’s passing, we were able to get my brother to agree to fix-up and sell my parents’ home, instead of just letting his son live in it, rent-free. A burst pipe and flooded kitchen and dining room helped. With the proceeds of the sale, we could now fix up things that we’ve wanted to fix for many years, but couldn’t afford to do.

And that is tonight’s bed-time story.
