Cheers for your fire updates last evening.
============================
Poor Jim spent three hours in Oxnard yesterday waiting for a building inspector who never showed up -- or called. (Because a pissant tax leech’s time is far more valuable than the time of a guy who provides a needed service and employs folks at significantly better than a “living wage”.)
We are still in good shape over here -- the Rye fire didn’t move much overnight. The winds didn’t appear to be as bad as initially feared last night. Sadly, the Thomas fire is now threatening Ojai and the coastal towns of La Conchita and Carpenteria are threatened. Got one friend in Carpenteria that was ready to evacuate yesterday, but haven’t gotten an update yet today.
No new fires broke out last night either. Amazing.
Too right about complaining to the Shitty of Oxnard; I wonder what the annual total dollar-value of wasted contractor-hours is in CA re Building & Safety compliance.
Bet BrendaK and I could comfortably retire on that amount.
(In the humongous 8.42 sq. mi. Peoples’ Republic of Santa Monica, you have to visit two different locations to pull a roofing permit. Three if you don’t have a current city business license…all with waits for some bureaucrat to get off their lazy, yoonyun asses.)

Didja hear the one about the confused guy who was half-Japanese and half-Jewish? Every December 7th, he attacked Pearl Schwartz!
FYI, you may experience some problems connecting to Teh Squeak later this evening and early tomorrow. Early tomorrow if I screw up the new DNS settings…so early tomorrow it is.
Calm outside right now -- no wind at all. Feels odd, but it’s a nice odd. Winds supposed to pick right on up again any time and keep on through the weekend. Talk about a blow job, eh?
Down south getting hit -- here’s hoping Paddy and Cali are all OK over the next few days.
Infamous greetings, Wheelizens.

Well, they are better than us…

Hai, Sven!
Glad you guys and teh Redoubt are okay; that’s a trend to be encouraged.

Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Sven -- I’m glad to hear that the Rye fire didn’t flare up as much as they feared. Hopefully they can start getting a handle on things.
Fatwa -- and if Jim complained to the city, he’d just get angry inspectors in return. You can’t take your business elsewhere, and they know it.
Hai, Paddy!

An “always funny”.

Wow, you’d think the admin would know what he was doing.
I hope Mr. and Mrs. Sven remain safe and not part of some newfangled California barbeque.
Well, anytime you introduce the “blue glove” into the equation…
Thank you, Jerry. And I hope you are well also.
Jerry! It’s great to see you! How is the recovery coming? How are you feeling? Are you back to annoying your neighbors yet?

Winds were calmer today and minimal at the moment. We’ll see what tonight and tomorrow bring.
